Live Oak in California showing some bad signs

Well my dad wasn't ready to throw in the towel on the tree. He claims he saved another one with the same problem, but it was much younger. Anyway, a dose of a shot of chlorodane, a cup of bleach, and a gallon of water and we've treated it. Dad says by next St. Patrick's Day it'll be healed...

Live Oak in California showing some bad signs

Thanks. I think there was some fill dirt put along there at some point. That fence right behind it is on a two foot tall retaining wall IIRC. It's a nice tree, but not critical for the landscape. There are several very nice Live and Valley Oaks around the property as well.

Live Oak in California showing some bad signs

My brother asked if I knew any arborists!!!! Oh boy, do I! He pointed this out when we were at my folks' house earlier today. Dad planted this one about 30 years ago and it's about 16" MBH. Is it a goner? Asking for a brother...

    2024 garden season

My additions this year are a blackberry and a raspberry. The fruit trees from last year look ready to go. The cheap white plastic lattice shades a concrete slab below a deck. Now that I look at it, probably should shore up this corner of the slab. I'm planning on keeping the fruit...

It's also the right time, at least around me to spray for peach leaf curl.

Fantastic photos of cars: oldies, modified, bizarre: whatever!

I saw Mrs @grizz55chev following along and fortunately she has slightly better taste in cars.

I was in Santa Clara today and saw @grizz55chev headed to the game!

It was a gorgeous day for a convertible in Nor Cal today.

Here's a fantastic assembly of mostly antique through pre-war autos.

Edison Motors announces their pickup truck kit

I guarantee you spend waaaaay more time standing there pumping gas or diesel than I ever do charging. It's not even in the same ballpark. It's literally seconds to plug it in when I get home. If you're truly driving that much you're spending what, 10 minutes a day on average at the gas station?

Then why is it so important to go 400-500 miles on an eight minute charge? Sounds like you just want to justify not wanting an EV.

We're a big mix, with NG leading the way. There are times where the solar contribution soars, and other times like right now when it isn't much. Here's the low-down on CA production from 2022. In 2023 we got a big boost in hydro with all the storms we got last winter...

Edison Motors announces their pickup truck kit

It seems like it's a buyer's market for used EV's. Here's an ad for a nice 9 year old Tesla where they're asking less than $17k with 80k miles on it. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/ctd/d/san-jose-2014-tesla-model/7696529590.html A newer one with the dual motor asking $24k...

Edison Motors announces their pickup truck kit

There's a few reasons for the drop. First, there's a LOT more choices on the market this year. Second, Tesla has significantly reduced the prices of their cars. Third, it seems like most of the people who want an EV now have one. Fourth, the Mach-E and specifically the GT Performance Edition...

I think you're getting into semantics. The fact is, at least around here the grid is enormous and is fed regionally in the US, as I understand it. The water supplies for various municipalities vary greatly from city to city in some cases. For example, SF gets a lot of it's water from the...

Edison Motors announces their pickup truck kit

Dang. You drive that much every day? I'd be looking for a different line of work. The used market is going to look pretty good over the next few years. My Mach-E GT Perf Ed has dropped in value from about $65k last year to about $35k this year with less than 20k miles on it. It's...

The cheapest I saw was $5.60 / GAL, so I went there. EVERYTHING is expensive in CA, except dirt biking in state vehicle recreation areas, which are somehow still $5 / day. I guess the legislature hasn't gotten wind of that yet.

Haha, yeah it's not the prettiest nor the ugliest car on the lot. I'm not sure mine reduced the number on your local lot though. My local dealer has over 150 of them on the lot now. I bought it as a beater / commuter car, and it does that quite well. I was annoyed when I went to buy diesel a...
