    056 Problem

    I am working on an 056. It idles fine, revs up fine, then at high speed the RPM's slowly start getting higher and higher. I dont have a tach but i know it gets way to high. I'v re tunded the carb a bunch and played with the screws but it always wants to keep reving to high. What do you guys...

    That saw will do fine with a 24". Alot of people run 28" bars on their 361's around here.

    Thanks slowp, Do you know the names of any reputable schools in our area? I am currently enrolled at CWU but i dont think they offer much in the way of forestry or natural resources.

    Few sharpening questions (grinder)

    I use the same grinder at work. I just round the bottom of the wheel when it gets black or when it starts to get flat on one side. I only change the angle that i am grinding at when the tooth is square on the side (like RSC, 25*), and when the tooth is rounded on the side (like Stihl RM, 30*)...

    Its reverese thread, so you have to turn it to the right to take it off and left to put it back on.

    How did you get started on working on saws

    I started by making chains and grinding chains in the shop, then tune ups and carbs and looking over the techs. shoulder until i got the hang of it. Now i have a few project saws im working on right now.

    AOD a Stihl tech?

    I like the fact that you can pretty much tear down an entire saw with just 2 or 3 different tools. Stihl makes some good tools that make it even easier to work on their equipment with.
