The ‘paddle’ button on the Logmasters oils on the return stroke. Pushing on the paddle loads the return spring which powers the plunger moving the oil. Clear as mud, right? Many times I’ve been told ‘your saw is out of oil’ because most expect to see oil when pushed and held down. 😑

PL-55 & SL-55 use a two ring piston. One can use a Homelite XL 925 piston by shortening the skirt in a lathe to match the Remington. Little Red Barn sells the Homelite piston. 👍 Edit: my bad SL 55 not SL11.

P70 I have was like that. Ran OK but not quite right. New crank seals and Meteor piston kit solved the problem.👌

There is a shutoff valve connected by link to throttle trigger. One must loosen the tank cap to ‘burp’ pressure or it will continue to seep.

Another coil that will fit is the Wico on a Rem SL-9 type.

Watch evilbay, search Homelite coil. May take a while tho.

I have a pile of used plugs on my bench. Most all are greasy black on the end. They were the wrong plug for the application and not really ‘bad’, just too cold a heat range. Only had three actually bad plugs. One Champion and two Bosch, the center electrode had come loose and slid down...

Spacers for the 5/16” bar studs can be made from an extension spring from your local hardware store. Find one 3/8” OF x .060” wire size and cut five coil lengths. Got me out of the woods when I had a pile of Echo powerheads sans bars.

Sometime it fells like it takes that long. I do have some 9/16” x .078 gauge Remington/Mall. Finally!

Also look for a Remington bar and use 5/16” id x 3/8” od spacers for the bar studs. It’s a 3/8” slot. Thank me later.

After disassembly and dunked in a pressure wash tank, almost all the yellow paint was gone. Almost left it all bare aluminum but hit upon a distinctive color scheme of Allis Chalmer orange and International off white. Homelite XP 1000 in AC orange and Ford gray. ( I dislike red & green.)

Spark timing? Check to see if you sheared the flywheel ‘key’.

Bite the bullet and replace it with the one from a Lombard. The OEM duckbill for the Remington will be forty years old and fail in minutes.
