    A grim question

Depending on the person and the tree type. An Ash tree could be humorous especially if the person was a pain in the Ash.

McCulloch S250 Headache...or maybe heart attack. What to try next?

Any motor that runs for a short time and then quits that requires a cool down time should have it's coil looked at and checked. Most likely it needs to be replaced.

Is there a cure for CAD?

The cure depends on how many you have. 1 is not enough and 2 is just a back-up for 1 so maybe 3 would qualify for CAD. But when I had 25 I said to myself, self you can hang 1 more over on the back of the door if you don't open it up too far. I think that was the beginning of CAD for me.

    McCulloch chainsaw 10-10 help needed

The spark plug wire that runs through a slot or hole in the cover may have worn through and is sending you a warning. Unscrew the spark plug wire from the coil and replace it. It may also come from the spark plug wire grounding out on the motor as it passes from the cover hole to the spark plug...

    Countyline 30 ton log splitter

I have one. (1) The mounting plate is ok but the welding to the frame (oil reservoir tank) needs to be checked every once in a while. I had to take the motor off, drain the tank, grind out the leaking seam and reweld the plate. (2) The wedge channel does collect debris and it can get jammed in...

    Tractor Skidding Winch Build

Are you planning on changing the plate where the cable goes to the top pulley ?? If not you might be needing more cable to replace the worn out ones. A set of top rollers and side rollers rather than a hole in the plate would be preferred IMO. Just asking.

    new member here.

Welcome to the site, As a McCulloch owner I can't offer any advise about Stihl but you have come to the right place to pick some very smart brains. Help is only a click away. I too am a little older than you and do my own bucking, splitting and milling as do many of the guys here, so no...

    Can anyone explain this?

I would think somebody sucked up a mouth full of bb's but it's probably a ball bearing that fell in through the carb.

How I baby my 2 stoke motors.... 30-1 instead of 50-1

As a user of old saws from the 70's with a recommended mixture rate of 20-1, I find that running 40-1 in everything has no adverse effect on my equipment once the carb is suitably adjusted. Naturally my wife finds the mixture still too rich and requires that I strip down to my skivvies before...

    Milling deep beams

The beams I used were given to me by a neighbor who was tasked with throwing them away. They were used in a sports park owned by the city. They are just 2 x 4 aluminum rails. The idea is not to cut all the way through on one pass but to make several smaller cuts. It goes much faster than trying...

    Milling deep beams

By using a beam cutting attachment on your saw bar, you are only limited by the length of your bar. Here I am using a 18" B&C to cut through this pine log of 14'. To do this I took off the top slab with my CSM then screwed an 18' rail (2 nine ft. rails joined in the middle) to one side of the...

Comments on winch for chainsaw mill

I use a boat winch with the strap replaced with rope run to a pulley on the anchor bar and back to the mill frame. Saves a lot of back ache and I can mill up to a 20ft. log with the rope on the winch. Winch is mounted horizontal on the mill frame and the handle is shortened. That allows me to...

Welcome to the world of I bought a crap saw

I'm sure you'll find that anyone that has a skillset will attract users and abusers. I've had my share of them over the years and I stopped calling them back or the term today is ghosting them. I have my own circle of friends that are dependable and it is a small circle and I like it that way...

My random new criteria for buying cheap bar oil

I carry a quart jug (gear oil type) full of bar oil and a gallon jug of mix together in a 5 gal. pail along with a couple of plastic wedges when heading into the woods or going to my milling table. Once I've used all of that up, it's usually time for lunch or time to unload the trailer. Either...

firewood cutting with a bad back

There are several available from different vendors as well as e-bay. If you have the ability to weld one for yourself, I would say go to it, otherwise you need to shop around. U-tube also shows several diy builds to save $$.

firewood cutting with a bad back

Since you have 4 wheelers available I think a log lift for the back of it will work just fine. It's cheaper than a tractor and all the accessories you'd need or want. It is also narrow and light weight, two more of your concerns answered.

firewood cutting with a bad back

What you need to do is get your work up off the ground with something like a log lift so that you're not bending over as much. A tractor with a bucket works of just the 3 pt. hitch with a chain to get the log up onto a couple of cutoff sections. Our motto is work smarter not harder. I too have...
