404 BAR ON A SMALL BAR MOUNT CHAINSAW (WILL IT WORK?)

I HAVE A FEW 404 (LARGE MOUNT CHAINSAW BARS).

I want to mount these large bars to a small mount chainsaw , ms660 046 044 ms360 etc.

Can I change out the bar studs to larger (404 style) and mount these to my saws.?

I do not want to have to drill holes in the bar for oil (the bars a new)

Will this work?

The easy thing to do is make some spacers for the studs and make sure they fit well. Do you have the 404 rim for the clutch.The other difference is the taper. The tapered end that goes onto the motor end is a little different profile. With the 404 chain my be a E ticket Thanks

The bars I have are hard nose so I believe that I can use 3/8 chain.

Then they aren't really .404 bars, they're just large mount ones. You will need to make sure the oil holes line up and the end taper of the bar isn't holding the chain out of the sprocket.
