New project started two weeks ago. Mill cuts but upgrading to gas engine very soon to up production speed. Also slowly collecting hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors, etc to convert to all direct hydraulic functions. I have very simple log stop set up for now until hydraulics are to be installed and then they will be upgraded. Also have I-beams that I'm going to turn it into a trailer with dual 3500# axles and corner stabilizers once I get it running like a top. Total build budget is $2000-3000, only at $250 right now so plenty of room right now to put on bell and whistles.

more pictures, also redesigning head unit to take 19" wheels with wider throat and raise height to take 36" logs.

I actually am a industrial forklift tech so by end of next week I should have 16 cylinders of varying bores and strokes all the way from 6" stroke to 36" stroke so I'm going to start designing hydraulic setup and tandem axle mounts. I think I'm going to wait and design larger head until its mostly done. Lots more pictures to come. It's actually been a pretty fun project and hopefully when done will be equivalent to the $20000 mills in options and size. Truly I guess I could make it automated too but I think that's just too much of a hassle, the forklifts I work on do have a height encoder system which registers mast height so technically could make board width automated but i think that's almost unnecessary.

mounted hoses for cleaner look and installed water cut off valve beside throttle control so don't have to adjust valve near blade, also started building framework behind idler wheel to stop vibration at max throttle.

Mounted engine kill switch up at water control valve, also opened up cut width to 22" to handle much larger logs, added clutch pulley to keep blade from constant rotation. Also included pictures of attachments I bought from my work to salvage hydraulic cylinders and parts of them to add hydraulic functions to the mill once I have it up on trailer frame and axles.
