    Growing up near the river?
    We have about rivers grow willows. Not as big as eucalyptus. «Salix alba» could grow up to 30 m. Very brittle trees. What characteristics have eucalyptus?

    they survive long periods of flooding - several years or more being immersed .
    also can tolerate long periods of drought and are long lived by australian tree standards.
