Back at the ranch

Just got back in, got the saws cleaned up and defueled... and enjoying a cold

I had a great time today, met 2000ssm6, ents, and wanab. Got to cut with a couple bigger saws and wanab's NE346XP, which was big fun. Brian has a warmed up 460... I had a struggle to not become a giggling idiot running that one.

I've never cut wood in a building before... I think I might be deaf, but that beats sunburned and deaf. I'll try to get some pix posted up soon.

Thank You to Brian & his lady for hosting the GTG and feeding us lunch!

I'm looking forward to doing it again... maybe we can get some more folks to come out & play...

i have a whole lotta' lovin, uh i means stuffs to post for the peeps to enjoy. some may enjoy it more than others..

;)

up first we have an 029 Farm Boss that has been modified VS. "stock" 455 Rancher.
times listed for all saws was the best observed cut time as clearly NONE of us are pros.
:(

all cutting was done in hardwood. 2000ssm6 had 2 very nice logs we used that were very uniform. the large log only varied about 1 1/2" from one end to the other. saw comparisons where run back to back in the same log.

not too shabby for one of the biggest POS saws ever made.

LMAO!

:)

Here is a good picture of how we were cutting, that is XJ with his 029S. His 361 had the "lake muffler mod" and it was over a second quicker than our stockers, very impressive. I also noticed while bucking a log that large volume of exhaust was exiting this new port. If you have a stock 361, mod that muffler!

I know Wanabe is going to post the vids but here is a breakdown of the races. His 621 was feeling sick on and off but looked good during the cuts that it made for the 361. The 621 and 361 were pretty close. Ya'll will have to judge the 026 vs 346. We did 4 cuts, 2 with a 20" bar, 2 with a 16". I think he beat me in the 20" race and the 16" were close. I ran the 346, not a bad saw at all. Revs really quick and cuts smooth.

Thanks guys for coming out, it was nice to meet the faces behind the handles. I didn't think this type of cutting would work, at first, but everyone had fun. I look forward to having another, we can do it somewhere else or at the FD again.

Ents had a well worked 044 that showed why it gets so much praise. He also had a nice 460 that ran well.:rockn: Get those mufflers opened up Fred!! LOL.
I know you are getting a DP for the 460 but if you will send me the 044 cover I will add a port/screen to it, that won't cost ya nothing but to mail it. You can then take it back to the dealer and have him tune it.

I didn't get many pics with my camera so I need to get Amy's. Here are all the chips, filled the tractor bucket 3 times.:ices_rofl:

Thanks for the beer Wanabe! I was wore out about 9pm when I left the FD. I had just enough energy to consume a few cold ones.

Look like a good time was has by all.. but... I'm stihl wrestling with the "cut inside" so we don't get a sunburn :monkey: Maybe it's just a PNW thing to cut outside. :ices_rofl: :ices_rofl: :ices_rofl:

i was great to meet you ents. i am sorry i didnt get your entire first cut.

ents 044 stock 20" bar
16"-18" wood. time looks to be about 13 flat as close as i could estimate.

I believe that's the 044 (caps and crud and the 460 cut slower due to a poorly sharpened chain). Poor form on my part. I'm used to the trees standing upright.

Later,

moving right along it was the lightweight saws. both are modified
