Well I went and did it yesterday, I bought a new Husky 372xp, tested it out on my new log pile man is it sweet. I hid my 350 so hopefully my wife won't know the difference hee hee. She would kill me if she found out i spent $750 on a new saw so we could save money by burning wood. This is my 4th saw now did anyone know how addicting it is cutting wood? Here are some pics of my loggers load of wood I got for $300. I plan on getting a few more loads also and selling cut and split wood to pay off the new toy.

my wife would pull a lorena bobbit on me if i spent that much on a chainsaw....

:jawdrop: A new saw?
need to hide one? Let me know.:greenchainsaw:
How many cord u got there. I mean real cords.:monkey:

she's going to hear your new saw and ask when you got some testicles put on the 350. lol

that pile of wood should be a great way to break in your new saw. have fun!

I have seen it posted here before but it is said women can't tell if it is the same colour? My Dad tried stunts like this for years he thought he was getting away with it but Mom alway's knew If it was new it looked new no wear marks. But she let him get away with it, kinda like that purse smells like new leather? part of being married for over 50 years they both new! lol

It was a tri axle load, I figure between 6-8 cords how would I go about measuring those 2 piles they are 8 footers? I'll ask the logger next week. I have an in with him so I get it about 1/2 price what a normal person would pay. I think the saw will pay for itself, I can cut 2 to 1 compared to what my husky 350 would do. I am looking to save quite a bit of time and effort.
And LOL that 350 grew big testicals! It was only a one year old saw, same color so I don't think she will notice. But leave it to a friend to come over and say nice new saw in front of her.

Good lookin' stack of wood and congrats on the 372. I bought one awhile back and it's been barking for me to let it off of the chain so it can go hunt.

I can't get anything by my wife, I fire up the 460 the other day and she says, "got a muffler mod on that saw, it sounds tuff." So not only does she know exactly what I have, she knows what's modded. Lucky she's easy enough going when I explain how my saw addiction will eventually make us money.

Hey Coldfront, where are you located?, can't be too far from me.

I do the same thing....... i've gotta keep buying Huskys so Whats-Her-Name is none the wiser. I keep a couple downstairs in the barn, a couple upstairs. That way there aren't too many saws in one place. Plus...... when she comes home with yet another pair of shoes, or another Coach handbag, i just say "Thats really nice honey".

This is bad, really bad.

My problem is that I have started losing my saws. It started a couple of months ago when I took my wife firewooding with me. She enjoyed it more than I expected her too.

I cleaned up a little 30cc Echo that I had and filed the chain - "Her Saw". Oh, she thought that was great!

Yesterday I took a friend out to cut some wood for him. My pickup, my trailer, my saws. All I had to do was buck logs and drive. He loaded. My wife marked the logs for the lengths that he wanted. So it was a pretty fun & easy day for me.

By the time we got home I could see that my wife wanted to run a saw...so I helped her cut some noodles with my ported 7900. Well, she was having so much fun making noodles and I couldn't turn her loose with it, so I set her up with my MS260.

After she was done making noodles, I picked up my 7900 to clean it up and she said "Oh, I better put MY saw away too..."

I froze in my tracks, a chill went down my spine like lightning. Guys, I didn't sleep last night. She already has my chaps. I'm afraid that my pickup and trailer are next. The 7900 is a certainty, I can tell...

.

Larry- I am jealous. wish I could get the wife to help. But man does she cook. I guess I can't complain.

As for hiding it, I can't help you there. I just tell her after I buy it. If it is for the business I get "Well if it makes us money, then I don't care." BUT. . . bring home a $900 dirtbike and it cost me new flooring in the kitchen. Go figure.

For those with less understanding wives, remember this: It is easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission. lol

Shoot, it sounds like she's already laid claim to your testicles.:hmm3grin2orange:

I am pretty lucky in this aspect, my wife doestn usually get upset at the appearance of any new tools unless I have no way of justifying why I bought them. She loves cutting wood too, but only in ideal weather. Fall or spring, not to hot or not too cool.
I solved the "her saw" problem easily, I bought her a husky 137 and she loves the saw. Light enough that she can pack it around without wearing herself out, and far to lightweight for me to ever want to use it.
She tried my 455 a few times, and once even tried the 372, but she only said,
"Well, after carrying that thing around, I can see why you are tired after a day of cutting."
She seems to be quite content with her 137.

Friday Night i was sharpening my chains for the MS310 and my wife came out to the pole barn to see what i was doing. I had to try my excuse for a new saw on her. I first told her that i needed to get a new saw, and she responded " your saw is only a year old" I said i know that but, unless i get a new saw i dont know how much longer i will be able to cut wood, because this saw makes my wrist hurt too much (i had wrist surgery on both wrist 7 years ago) and the new ones have much better anti-vibe components on them. She was ok with it but, told me that i needed to sell enough wood to pay for it.:hmm3grin2orange:

I just bought a new saw from another AS member, I know my wife wouldn't know the difference if I got a new saw, they'd both be the same colours (Stihl) Only thing is it's at the post office and we travel into work together.. There's no way I'm waiting till the weekend to go pick it up to sneak it home so I told her. Not sure of the repercussions yet.. hell with it .I gots me a new saw!!!

:chainsawguy:

Ltrees I talked to the logger today he says his truck carrys 10-11 cords.
I'll tell you one thing that 372xp is the real deal I made mince meat of that closest log pile in the first picture of my first post, Sunday afternoon, like a hot knife thru butter never even had to sharpen the chain. I know with my 350 it would have taken me at least 3 afternoons and probably sharpen the chain about 3 or 4 times. My wife has not caught on yet. Here is a pic of the wood pile I created with the 372xp Sunday afternoon.

Mixed blessing. With me, my firewooding is my alone time or my time with the guys. Having the wife come along would kinda cramp my style, so to speak.

However, if she was just a fraction as enthusiastic as I am about firewood, I'd likely get fewer, "Where the hell do you think you're going?" comments as I head out the door to my favorite gathering spots.

Makes one think.:monkey:

Hope you have a good night's sleep.

BTW Nailsbeats I'm in Hayward, WI. (Home of the World Lumberjack Championships), about 75 miles west of you. Small world.
P.S. I am by no means a lumberjack, just a guy who likes to cut and split wood by hand with a maul. Who needs a membership to a health club.
