Hitting another nail in another cut after 8” in!!!!:censored: :censored:

Holly Chisel tooth chain Batman!!!!!

Well I learned some things tonight.

1. I either don’t have a clue how to sharpen a chain or this Chisel Tooth chain is UNFREAKIN’ believable.

2. Even if you’re just cutting in the back yard (way back in the back) always take all your sharp chains with you. You never know you might hit a nail……………….or two!!!!!:censored:

3. I do need to be sure I am sharpening the chains properly…. I know I am getting them sharp because the chips are BIG and it ‘grabs’ when you touch the wood. BUT. Do chains EVER cut as good as brand new???

4. I need a bigger tractor.

5. I need a bigger saw.

6. I think after those first two cuts in the big log with the chisel tooth, it cut like hot butter!! So I think if I get a full skip on a 24” bar I will be in hog heaven for these few BIG logs I get from time to time, until I get a bigger saw. WOW!

another couple days and i will have this little bit of wood off the trailer, so we can get some more.....

I Need bigger tractor...

How about step spikes for an old tree stand? If you hunt, take your stuff out of the woods with you. RSC cannot cut your climbing spikes!!!!

Didn't hurt yourself did ya? That would be worse than ruining a new chain.

If you got a truck or something big, use that to drag the rounds off the trailer. Just be careful they don't roll and make a nice big round dent in the bumper.

nope did not get hurt, we play careful like around here :D
brakes are out on my truck, so i can't get it back there and i need to get trailer empty NOW, so we can get more wood, will fix brakes soon as i get trailer unloaded, too much to do....

I bet it's kinda hard to hit them steel wedges that close to the trailer sides. The trailer probably bounces when ya hit em too. You need a winch, Big time.
nope, hitting the wedges was no problem right there, and trailer did not move an inch, it is pretty much planted in the dirt with the weight of the little log on the right :D:D

oh and if you look close you can see the side is bowed out and that chunk is stuck bewteen the round on the right and the side !!!

yes, yes a winch is on the list, for front of my wood truck, just not got there yet.....
normaly the logs we get are NOT this big......
beggers can't be chosey and the price is right :D:D:D

Yep, Them big chunks are hard to handle by yourself. I can see where it's stuck now. A winch would pull it right on out. You definitely have some nice firewood there. I love cutting and handling chunks that big. You get more wood in less time.

:biggrinbounce2: I laughed out loud when I saw your pictures. Man it looks like work, I use my mini excavator, and my dump truck.. Or my big excavator, and my log truck. Car trailer is kinda funny, the skidder (lawn mower) made me laugh hard enough for my eyes to water.. +1, Thanks

Those damaged chisel chains - Look at the very tip, the end of the angle, if you can see any still peened over or dull, you have to sharpen back past that. And, the other cutters too, they all have to be the same length. Looks like you earned your $$$$$$$ loading that log!

your welcome, i am here to entertain :D

you should see the WH push those big chunks over to the spliter, i was 'shocked' at how easy they are to push with that little thing.
i have to put the chains back on and take a pic for ya.
it has been easy this summer to show the wife just how much i NEED a tractor, as in the above pic i am planning on a tractor (bigger then that one i think) the wife says "yes you need one, and it needs to be bigger then this one"
ya gotta love her..............car trailer was purchased for $500 10yrs ago, and i have put 'trailer' tires on it and built the sides last year, so i DO get my money worths out of it.
after i purchase
1. big saw
2. new/used truck for me.
3. finish the remodel on the house
4. new lawn mower
5. new Geo-thermal furnace/ac for house (dont' even have a furnace right now)
6. new wood fired furnace to replace old stove in garage to heat house.
7. then i shall purchase a heavy log type trailer or at least a new heavy duty dump trailer.

oh one more thing folks what the heck does

+1 mean?

oh and thanks to whoever for this site,
in less then a week i have learned that i don't know nothing!!!!

thanks.

+1 means he agrees.

I don't think you need any heavier equipment if that little girl was able to split that round and yank that stump. I'd almost be afraid to sleep in the same house as that little monster! :D

Oh yeah, if you can't get that round out of the trailer by splitting it up with the wedge, use your saw to rip it into manageable chunks. You don't need to go all the way through it, just cut down about 4 to 6 inches where you want it to split (you can go down the sides a little as well if you want to make it even easier to split) and then stick the wedge down the kerf... give the wedge a few smacks and she'll split nicely for you, right where you placed your cuts.

Once you get that single round out of the back just buck up that log into a few pieces and drag or roll them out. You'll have that trailer empty in less than an hour with the help of your daughter!

An old ceramic insulator. Sawmill blades don't like them either.

Same song second verse...

I also posted these photo's in the "Strange things you find in a tree" thread, some how I missed these in the logs I was cutting, but later found them in the ashes in the bottom of the wood furnace.

I think a direct hit on either one would have spoiled the fun that day.

I guess you could say that would be worse than hitting a nail.

What's worse than hitting a nail? Hitting a strand of fence wire. You not only have to touch up your chain, you also get to stretch and splice a section of fence. You get extra points if you also hit one of the metal fence posts.

Nothing on the face of the earth will fold the corners of a chain over faster or worse than a rock. Fence wire is butter comparitively.

thanks was rippng it all the way down, but will try and split,
actualy to the right next to the big round, is not a full chunk it only kind of part so a small cut tonight and i can drag that chunk off for spliting later.
then.
i have the round all cut, i hope to pull the chock out and it should roll and i can HOPEFULY be able to finish the cut..i hope....
