Maybe need to fatten the mixture a little from were your at, it will run slightly hotter, but among other things like curing cancer, 361's can pull 2 25" bars at a time if the bar-studs were a little longer!

Just kidding, the bars studs might be long enough!

Year ago...

I spent a long, hot, tiring day cutting up a large pin oak trunk with my 036 and 25" bar. In the end, I melted something in the oil pump.

If you only had to use it occasionally it would be O.K. but if you really need to pull a 25" bar on a regular basis in hard wood you will want a bigger saw.

The 036 wears the 16" bar full time now, nice combination

The 066 fit with the 25", only a couple of tanks through this one since the it was rebuilt and it just keeps getting better and better

bar buried in hardwood...

occasionally, yes.

every day, all day, no.

This thread is kind of like asking if you can screw a 120 pound Doberman. I would imagine you could, but sooner or later someone's going to ask why. :hmm3grin2orange:

Funny, I wouldn't buy one without a 25" on it!!! Yes, I'd get a 20" as well, but I remeber not long ago, hearing of guys on this site cutting Oak (slowly) with a 28" on a 361.

I've put in the HO oiler, maybe it will run it, but I'm happy with the 20" getting very good oil while cutting. Some say that it is too much (maybe I'm reading my chain too much, but I've gotten some burn on the chain still). Sure you can run it, but take it easy and don't dawg that sucker in.

"Can I run a 25" bar on my 361?"

No you can't, if the 20" bar is maxxed out, then that's your lot. 25" bars are illegal on 59cc saws. Get a 460 instead.

:agree2: :agree2: :agree2:

I run a 25 inch on my 361 more than the 20 inch. Of course, I suffer from:

WEST COAST LONGBAR DISEASE.

But really, if I bought another 361 I would get it with a 25 inch ES bar. And RM full comp chain (that's RM not RM2 safety, and not skip). The 361 does just fine with the 25 inch bar, even in oak. That is Oregon white oak and California black oak, which are both dense oaks.

Thanks for your input guys, it would only be an occasional use application.
I will look at skip chain option also.
I will be doing the muffler mod once i get a few more hours up on the saw I want to get the dust/sawdust bypassing the air cleaner sorted before i void my warranty.

Excuse my ignorance, what does CAD stand for, i get the jest of what it means though.
