How am I supposed to go to bed when it's only the beginning of the first round? Wait a minute! This is nothing more than a boring replay of round 5 in the title fight where Tom lost to the might Chicom 260 cylinder:cheers:

Ole Tom could have had that cylinder to put to the test. However some one was afraid to let ole Tom have it, very cowardly I might add. This time I'm holding the cards and I'm not afraid to let you have em baby,LOLOL

You may want to call ringside and have them cushion the canvas for ya,haha

I'm just afraid that I'll have another 100 page thread to catch up on in the morning:greenchainsaw:

Naaaa no fear, this thread won't go 100 pages. After folks see how strong the internals of that little saw are this thread will die fast. BTW, you need a good crank and rod for a 180, got one here, I can assure you its very strong Brad. Hell I'm gonna show you tomorrow,LOL

I dont have a dog in this race, but for some reason feel compelled to speak my mind. I have never owned a ms180 stihl. I have no intentions of owning a ms180 stihl. I dont know anybody that owns a ms180 stihl. I have never even held a ms180 stihl. But I have seen/read where a few, not one, but a few people have found/caused a bent rod in them. More than 1 saw, more than 1 person. And I have also heard of several people who have repaired/dismantled several ms180 saws, and have not had any problems with the rod's. So..................I still dont care. Nope dont care one bit. Carry on.

Good post. I don't own a 180 either but have worked on many. Never had a problem of any kind removing flywheels and clutches. I find it kinda funny nobody has caught on to how silly these weak claims are. Why would Stihl make replacement flywheels, clutches, oil worm gears and such if its impossible to remove the flywheel and clutch without destorying the engine. Doesn't make sense does it. That would be like car makers putting tires on cars you can't remove once they go bald, haha

Now tape the firing of Dr. Hoss, LOL.:D Can't wait to see the vid....

That will not be taped, Hoss is a big big man. In fact I will call him and demand a reason why he didn't show up at the practice today. If he tells me he had a booty call, he overslept, had better things to do or just didn't want to show up for work I will understand and refrain from giving him the boot. Like I said Hoss is a big big man,:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

BWAHAHAHAHAHA! That was great! Nothing breaks the tension like a bird saying, "tickle, tickle, tickle."

Now all I have to do is see if that works on my wife the next time she's mad at me?

Wife: I told you to take the garbage off the porch, and now the NEIGHBORS DOG TORE IT UP!!!

Me:
Tickle, tickle, tickle.

Tommie, I'm going to set an open bottle of Vitalis next to the keyboard. I want the full effect of the sights and smells of the fight!:)

Well tune your ear to the bell because this is only gonna go about 2 minutes before the canvas receives its first body and it isn't gonna be mine, that you can take to the bank.

I'm sitting here watching my little vids on the computer. I can't upload them here but I can play them. I can't help but sit here and laff knowing people have been hit by a train and suffered less pain than those who claim this little saw is weak after watching these little vids,:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

I concur... there's plenty of room for debate without getting personal. Anything less is a show of poor character. At some point, it is appropriate to agree to disagree and move on.

Dude, have you been drinkin?

Let's sum this up with a few Q & As.

Q: Is the MS180 a dependable saw for a majority of its intended market?
A: Yes.

Q: Is the rod design weak?
A: Yes.

Q: Does that make it a worthless piece of junk?
A: No.

Q: Then why do you, Brad, harp on it?
A: There's better out there for the money. If Stihl's to be #1, then I expect that to carry through even to their cheapest homeowner saws.

Q: Why is Tom Hall so desperate to discredit me, Brad, and defend the weakest of Stihl design?
A: You be the judge.

I hope you're happy Tom. You got a response. Of course you would be a lot happier if you could make me go away.

Claiming the rod is weak means you have entered the realm of the Mechanical Engineer. Please provide empirical data (tensile strength, yield points, etc.) for the MS180 rod, as well as the rods from the other saws that compete in the same market segment.

No Data=baseless claim.

I understand your point, but it would be unfair for AS members to back all of their findings with technical data. Nobody is really equipped to produce such data anyway.

Fact is that a few members have encountered bended cranks on this saw model.

I will be the last to say that Stihl doesn't know their stuff, but the question as to why the rods can be bent, still has not been answered.

My opinion is that the rod can be in a weak position while removing flywheel/and or clutch, which means that one needs to have the right tool or to follow the right procedure. Otherwise, there seems to be a risk to bent the rod, which is quite uncommon compared to other saws.

Waiting for Mr Hall to reveil the mystery...:popcorn:

Right on. It works all ways. I have dealt with many people on here, and have a perfect rep with those that I deal with. Just because I speak my mind and some dont like it, too bad. Enough said.

I am still waiting to see the 180 torture test!!!
