My wife is the same, I just mention spending $45.00 a month to have fake acrylic nails glued to the ends of her fingers is dumb! :)
Besides restoring chainsaws is preserving history, nothing nuts about that.

Great job on the 3270 Pioneer.I can see why you don't want to use it,far too much work to have it scratched up again.Another piece of history reclaimed!
Look forward to your next restoration stone69er

Great job

I agree, the saw looks "Fabulous!" And no, I wouldn't use it. It's a little slice of history that very soon, few will be aware of and even fewer can claim.

Is This Okay!

Hello Fellas
Was tinkering around with one of the old Pioneers I have and pulled the muffler off it.I saw that the exhaust port had quite a bit of carbon in it.Can you bring the piston up to the top and scrape that carbon out of there without doing damage? I guess what I'm trying to say is,with the piston up to prevent any crap from falling in the cylinder and making sure you get all of the stuff out of the port before moving the cylinder again.Or is something that should not be done.
Lawrence
Thanks in Advance

Cleaning exhaust

Hey Lawrence, that is exactly the way to remove the carbon. Most say to use a hard wooden scraper and a shop vac. You should probably check the screen in the muffler too, if it's still in there.

Good to go, don`t use anything made of metal in the port that would scratch the piston, now that said hardwood and hard plastic make good scrapers. I have used aircraft paint stripper to remove carbon from the exhaust ports of many vintage chainsaws, will also do a good job on piston crowns but the piston must be out of the saw before applying.

1073 Recoil Problem

I got my new spring for the 1073. I hate putting these :censored: thing in. Can someone confirm I have it on the pulley correctly? I had it all together and after about 4 pulls it jumped. Is there an easy way to get these spring installed properly? :chainsaw:
