I asked my buddy at his bachelor party last weekend what he wanted for a wedding gift. He said he needed a chainsaw that would work for firewood this winter since they put a wood stove in. He doesnt know it yet, but this is the 034 that THall had for one dollar in the trading post. Needed new crank bearings, seals, muffler, carb rebuild, air filterand some odds and ends. I had the case blasted and repainted it during the rebuild, as well as cleaning up the plastic and clear coating it and adding badges.

You aren't going to give it to him with the bar upside down, are you? :jawdrop:

That would be a terrible breach of wedding etiquette!

:D

Yeah, that's going to make a nice gift.

Absolutely, better than a crystal vase from Macy's. She may not appreciate it, but I bet he'll really appreciate it.

Great gift!

He's already gettin sheets and lamps and cutlery and vases and crap that only she cares about so this is perfect.

Ive been married 17 years and cant remember any of the gifts given to us. If I would have gotten a chainsaw I would definately remember and enjoy. Wife would probably get a kick out of it too. Nice Job.

First of all, I'd like to say nice work. The saw looks great and anyone would be proud to have and use it. Second, heck yeah it's a proper wedding gift! Your friend knew what he wanted/needed when the issue came up and gave you his honest answer. Lastly, and I'm not complaining here (am I?) I didn't get anything and "The Princess" got everything all those years ago. I may have gotten a bottle of Jack, but I can't remember. Maybe that's why.:) There has to be an even or somewhat even split regarding gifts especially when you consider a newlywed couple's needs. Great job, great useful gift, and a great friend! Best, Max.

You need a MS170 or 017 for her then you have the bases covered.

I think that it is a great gift!!!! When i got married 4 yrs ago my buddy gma got me and the wife a snow shovel! That about the only thing that i could remember (i was late nov.). So i would go for it. Sounds like you would be a great friend. I dont know if i could part with one of my babys though!!

Thats an awsome wedding gift! Back in 1982 when I got married no one thought of anything like that for us.
After our wedding we moved into a house in the mountains surrounded by forest with wood heating so I had to go buy myself a brand new Stihl 032 which I still have to this day.
Although I nearly didn't have it for long because 5 months later a forest fire came up the hill heading straight for our home. I was home on my own & I had to think quick about what to get out the house & guess what? The first thing that came to mind was my new saw! You should have seen the look on my wife's face when she asked what I rescued from our house when I met her in town. Believe it or not we are still happily married all these years later.
