How often if ever does AS do a regional get-together? Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this.

I'd really like to meet some of you knuckleheads in person

I'm in southeast PA...are there any Mid-Atlantic events on the horizon?

Down in the chainsaw forums they organize regional get-to-gethers (GTGs). I've been to one out in WV. Lots of fun, but no climbers except for the guy I went with and myself.

Seems like there might be enough people within driving distance to pull one off for climbers and the like. I'd try to show if you volunteered to organize.

I say we put a NY GTG for climbers on. I figure NY we can get NY, PA,MA,NJ,CT maybe some WV DE and others. Maybe we could find some willing sponsors and make a real go of it door prizes raffles what ever. Anyone got a good contact with Stihl so maybe someone can win a good saw???

I would bet I may be able to get some rope donated.

Sounds like a plan! Maybe in the spring.

I could hunt around and see if there's a park up this way that would let us run around their tree tops for a day. I'd really like a good climbers GTG, cuttin' cookies ain't really my thing.

Lol now nope I will not be donated watcha talking about:laugh:

I remenber driving from Pitts to Niagra, it took about four hours. I also remember it was very expensive over that border.

We might be able to start a Google Map with pushpins where each of us lives, then figure out where the nucleus is.

Plas, does this mean you're organizing? Good idea.

I did a rec climbing gtg in NC back in Oct. Fun, but I'd like to climb with some working climbers if I could. I think I would see less Birkenstocks.

I would be willing to make a map of where participating AS members lived. That would be a fun project. I could put it online for all to access. It would be say zip code based. Obviously there would be some privacy things to discuss. But I am volunteering. Perhaps a moderator could chime in if necessary.

I am pretty sure I can get a great spot at one of our parks but that would mean everyone had to travel to Ct.. Its easy access right off the highway secluded and safe, located near everything, hotels, restaurants and strip joints. Tons of great trees for climbing could probably do some dead wooding or pruning for fun, of course we would have to have a state licensed arborist on hand. We may run in to some issues with the city guys in union problems but I dont think they have a gripe if its getting done free of charge in these trying financial times. Would be great if we could get some venders to get involved, which I dont think would be a problem if we got the attendance numbers up to a decent level.

I'd be interested if it's within 5 hours.I'd like to learn some new tricks.:)

I agree with no cookie cutting.Let's get into some trees.

If you guys want to do NY I do have land. There aren't any real monsters on the property but plenty of trees to set up fun traverses and ####. NY is pretty centrally located for the PA, NJ, CT, and MA guys, as well as any canucks that want to join in, if everyone wanted to travel that is. It would be more fun temp wise in the spring/summer not only for climbing but for drinking beers...I mean camping. I'll open up the 23 acres of woods if you guys want.
