So out yestday playing with some saws, had a good time and it was a nice warm day..winter gone and bugs not out yet :)

this morning over coffee and surfing AS i had an itch under my left arm,a good scratch took care of it but came away with some blood..
noticed i had broken off a tick embedded and the head was still in,NOT any easy place to get to with tweezers with one hand, cant gather skin and make it easily available at the same time..so decided to go have it taken care of and into the shower to make myself presentable to be seen by a medic..
While in there i found ANOTHER one thoruoghly embeded..
VERY uncomfortable driving the 45 min to the VA hospital with that thing stuck in me sucking blood !!
So when i got there the emergency room was empty and i got admited right away.. nice nurse lady asks where the ticks at,,i said one under my left arm and one (mumblemumble mumble),she say where ?? i say can i see the doctor ? she say you gotta tell me where the other tick is ! thats when i turned red and decided i had to do it so i may as well make a grand show of it and let every nurse in the room in on the big secret,so in a nice firm voice i told her.. "ON MY SCROTUM !! "
WELL !! every head in the place turned and she kinda turned color herself and left the room.. :)
i had to wait awhile as they had to call in a male doctor to take care of it..
now i'm gonna tell you guys it aint no fun having some strange guy grab ahold of the "boys" and take a pair of tweezer and start yanking out the short hairs while trying to get the bug out !!
while he was doing it i pictured how it would look to an observer and started laughing !! here i am laying down with a johnny on pulled Up to my waist like that helped preserve my modesty with somebody having a hand wrapped around the family jewels and a pair of pliers in the other hand performing a delicate operation..

moral of the story ? PERMETHRIN is readily available and mixed right is safe to spray on clothing and keeps ticks OFF !

That is not funny,I would not have wanted to go through that.
I hope everything turned out ok!

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
I "m sorry

Been there, well almost there. Northern Wisconsin last May for trout opener. The ticks get very thick up there. I woke up in the middle of the night with an itch way up high on my inner thigh. Figured it was a tick so got up to check it out. Went out into the kitchen of the cabin, turned on the light, and sat down on a chair. That's when my buddy John woke up, walked into the kitchen and caught me doubled over peeking at the at my crotch area with my legs spread wide. "What the **** are you doing!" Good laugh, and it turned out all right. Gotta watch those buggers though, my niece has had lymes once and my mom has had it twice.

The nice thing about the VA is they dont mind spending the $$ on you,got antibiotics to take and cream to rub on :)

Had one in my belly button did not notice it until it started to itch. Had to also go to the doc for that as well. I hate them dam blood suckers to.

That's one fantactic part about taking the wife hunting with me. We "have to" check eachother afterwards! Brad Paisley would be proud!

Yuk yuk yuk. Couple years back two buddies and I were fly fishing for carp on the Snake river. We'd been there for two hours before I found the first tick. So I peeled it off & marched back to the guys to warn them. So there we were standing in a circle, checking ourselves for ticks. We were engrossed in the tick search & at one point were all standing there with our pants around our knees when we remembered - thanks to a honking car - that the highway was only 50 yards away. God only knows what they thought was going on, but I reckon we gave them a show.

I always take a cattle ear tag that's been treated with perimythin or how ever you spell it and attach one to the top of each boot during tick and chigger season, dang sure works will keep the little bugger's from going up the legs.

Ugh, ticks, I hate ticks. I felled second growth Redwoods, they are coated with ticks. I didn't get stuck much, might have been the whiskey I sweated out everyday. Coconut oil based suntan lotion will keep them off, but other bugs like it.
