Location
Loretto/Manton Ky.
I had talked with a few local guys, they asked me if I had a local business
liscence, they knew I didn't.

Anyway, a customer picks up his trimmer today, had a wasp nest in the
muffler, I told him I cleared it out, he would not have any more problems.

He flips out this cheesy county badge.....

Says he is attached to the Ky EPA..........

Says they will take it back and look at it....

I will admit, I tossed the screen.

What am I looking at? Worst case?

Ky is way lax on enviromental crap, is this guy just blowing smoke?

Any advice appreciated....

Call Spacemule!

Do you think that he was serious, or was trying to get some free work out of you?

If you are NOT a licensed business you may have run afoul of local business regulations, but actually fall into a loophole with EPA rules which typically apply to those in the business or trade. Do the rules apply to hobbyists? Did you intentionally toss the screen? Call Peta and tell them what they are using wasps to set up a sting (sorry).

Seriously, don't cave in or admit anything until you know what you are dealing with.

Did he pay his tab?

I would ignore it unless something actually happens. If he flipped out a badge for no reason, he is either BS, or just a rookie showing off. Don't sweat it.

I wouldn't call Spacemule he is completely uncertified. I am a trained Paralegal and I am just as good as any other, but I will sincerely tell you that despite the fact that we are tested and licensed in Ontario I would not even hire a paralegal to chop wood. If someone needs legal advice they should talk to a lawyer that is worth his salt (plenty are not). Don't get legal advice from well meaning buddies

Also don't cave in or admit anything period

Screen is not an epa reg., A state agent with a county badge representing a federal authority? Or did you mean your state DEQ? No one has time for that ****, too busy looking at chem dumps and sewage.

Good points Fish.

If he didn't pay he might be out of his lane and need a call to his supervisor.

You still need to find out where you stand with regs in case it comes up again. Up here you can call most state and local offices and ask questions without identifying yourself. Get a feel for the situation and decide if you need to speak with an attorney.

wtf does the muffler screen have to do with the epa and a homeowner's equipment for use on private land?

if thats all you did, you'll be fine.
