I'm in the mood to buy a good torque wrench for saws. I take it should be in/lbs. What torque range should I buy. Any suggestions on brands/sources would be appreciated. Really needs to be 3/8's since I'm all set on torx bits in various length's in that size. Thanks.

Just got the Snap On electronic torque wrench in 3/8. Love it, it does 5-100 ft./lbs. and converts to newton meters and in./lbs.

I got my 3/8 drive torque wrench from Snap-On, and don't use it on my saws, but am a torque fanatic when it comes to my ATC's amd ATV's.
Haven't priced the small increment inch pound units yet, but think I will be looking for one soon too. Let me know if you find a good deal!

some wrenches only torque in one direction(righty-tighty), check before you buy to know what you get....

ive got some money invested in tourgue wrenches from small 1/4 to half inch. i rarely use them and never on a saw. i use them on important things like wheel like nuts and splindle nuts. inside engines on rod bolts and n such.

i couple grunts and fart is plenty of good enough indication on my saws that ive got them snug enough.

Cool, I usually tighten em down til they strip and then back em off a quarter turn!!

Haha, I think that I may have bought some of your used saws. I have been lucky, and haven't had to mess around much with my saws- but I have had problems with some of the older Honda bikes. I torque everything on the motor, and those darn head bolts get soft and snap- or strip. This is usually why I follow the lower torque recommendation on torque specs when I tighten down, but still get those that want to fight...
