As promised, here are a few pics of the Power Mac 1000 I picked up on Friday:

It's in better shape than it looks; it's dirty and grimy just from sitting around unused for a long time. I'm not sure what the deal is with the electrical tape on the rear handle yet. It feels plenty sturdy, so I'm not sure if it's broken or not. Threre's just a bit of paint missing on the corners of the top cover and some on the clutch cover as well.

I tried filling 'er up to get it going, but as the gas went in the fill hole it just poured out the other side of the saw onto the ground. :( So I have no idea what's going on there yet. Never had one of these apart, so I don't know what to expect at all. Anyway, hoping there was still a bit of fuel in the tank, I choked it and pulled the starter over, and it fired up on the SECOND PULL and ran for a few seconds before dying. So apart from the leaky tank issues, it's looking like it sholuld be a good runner. FWIW the tank is loose inside the saw or something; it moves around if I wiggle the fuel cap.

Nice score,
The fuel tank in these PM1000's
or P100's as well as most partners
is that there a plastic tank and can
move in the case.
Sounds like the tank vent might be
messed up and is causing the fuel leak.

jest pick up this today. what do you think?

That looks like a goodun'
Looks to be low hours and/or very well taken care of. Congrats, they seem to be highly coveted in these here parts. And you shouldn't sleep at night for the pittance you paid for it ;)

Junk yard find

Enough of this lofty talk of SP125's and 797's and Super 250's. Lets bring things back down to earth with a good ol' 10-10. I picked this one up months ago from a local scrapyard. I dumped the nasty liquid out of the fuel tank and put in fresh. It fired up and ran! The bar and chain were trash. The trigger was broken and the kill switch was missing. I set it aside and half-heartedly searched for parts. Fast forward a couple months, I am in the other local scrapyard, and spot a super pro 60, which I've never heard of. Low and behold, after checking IPL's, the trigger and kill switch is exactly the one I need. Add a new chain and yooper bar, I've got a really nice pro 10-10 for about 40 bucks. I checked compression this morning, it has a good solid 135 psi.

this one poped up on craigs list for olny 65.00 it lookes great i gess i got lucky

Lucky bum! Great score you got there. I'd offfer to double yer money for it......but I know what the answer would be...

I've been scanning the CL ads in my area (and yours, as I have a few friends that live up there)........but I somehow missed that one. Seems that happens every time I skip a few days in the search. Last 'somewhat' local Super 250 I saw here on CL was listed for $300. Too rich for my blood...:censored:

Would a 250 work or do you want a Super 250?

Just looking for a Super 250 right now. I wouldn't turn down a 'regular' 250, but that's not worth paying shipping for at the moment. 'Regular' 250's do pop up around here for reasonable money from time to time on CL.

I also have a friend who was given a 250 a while ago. May be able to get that out of him cheap, as I've helped him get a couple of motorcycles running and registered in the past................so he owes me one. Still thinkin' over your XL901 as well.

hey randy the dawgs in the second pic do you know where i can get some? or do you have a better pic so i can make some thanks

I stole those spikes off a CP125, they were the inside set. While they are a bit much on the Super, they served their purpose, I last used this saw in second growth Redwoods, the bark is like fibreglass insulation.
