Started a thread a few weeks ago that was meant to be a long term review of the 576. The saw had an idle issue that the shop was not able to resolve. Acted like an air leak, passed pressure/vac test, carb was swapped with a known good carb, seals and gaskets replaced. The poor bastards pretty much rebuilt the entire saw to no avail.

So...they offered to order me a new one, or give me a 372xt today. I bought the 576 with the intention of it being my primary work saw.....so I took the 372xt that was already there.

I'll keep ya posted on how the 372xt performs. I really liked the 576, musta just got a lemon, as the shop has sold a dozen with no issues.

Sorry to hear your initial investment went kaput.

Do keep us posted on the 372xt.

Stay warm!

I have tried searching for the OP's previous post regarding the idle issue with his 576, but cannot find it (even when the search function is co-operative). Any body have a link to it.

Sam, care to fill us in on what happened since post 51 if your previous post (where you got the mm for free etc...) and now, where you exchanged the 576 for the 372?

IS it much more than the leaking intake boot.......................

Yes. Myself and the owner were both in a hurry that night. Swapped the boot, cold started it, and it seemed fine. Same problem the next morning at work within less than a minute of run time. Really weird. Like I said, the guys replaced virtually everything on the saw short of the piston and cylinder. I feel kind of bad for the guys, they're at wits end over that 576. Back to the smart guys at Husky now - Sam

Well good to hear you got some good service from your dealer, and hopefully they won't have to foot the bill. In the shop we all get stumped at times, and another mind is always good to have. Grateful if you get a chance to follow up with your dealer once they have heard back from Husky. Have been in similar situations before as a dealer and it bug the hell out of me when Husky just writes off the saw without ever comming to any conclusions, other than unable to fix!

I'm very grateful to have a dealer that drops everything when I walk in the door. They're good at taking care of the guys that saw for a living.
I will let you know what they figure out with the 576 - Sam

Sam- you were running the 576 as a stock saw? Same thing with the 372XT?

Did they replace the PTO side bearing on the 576? That's an issue because those are a sealed unit with the oil seal being built into the bearing (ala 045 & 056) and there were many failures on the 575s and some of the earliest 576s.

Well that sucks the 576 has the dealer stumped. Maybe you'll like the 372xt better.

Jacob- the 576 was left stock, and the dealer did replace the PTO side bearing...

Very frustrating.

The 372xt is stock at the moment, will receive a muff mod and compression release plug (they always seem to leak). That's it - Sam

I would have swapped out to another 576. The 372XT in my humble opinion is a POS in stock form

I would have done another the 576, but I just need a saw now. After 3 weeks of screwing with the 576....I was pretty much over it, lol - Sam

Well let us know how the XT372 does. Your dealer didn't have another 576???
I just ordered up a 576 Autotune for my daily saw, I sure hope it doesn't have problems, we will see.

Did you run the XT in the woods yet?? how does it do stock

I'll let you know what I think, I did run it some at work today. Don't like to pass judgment on a saw until it is broke in. I've cursed saws in the past that took on a whole new life once run in.

They did not have another 576 in stock. I will say that the 576 did have some nicer creature comforts than the 372, but the 372 is a little more compact/nimble feeling when limbing.

We shall see....I am a picky bastard about something that I have to drag around for a living. - Sam

well I hope the saw runs out well for ya, a guy dosn't need the frustrations of a bad running saw when using it to put food on the table:bang:

I know it! Had nothing but bad luck this year with saws. It's really irritating when you're meticulous about maintenance and the guys that don't give a #### have saws that will never die....at least my luck with pickups seems good- they cost a lot more to fix, lol - Sam

As an aside, father in law called and said he's sending me his 288- always wanted one. He's a retired faller that took excellent care of his equipment. Looking forward to knocking some wood down with it - Sam
