Oh yeah, break out the rye.
I made a deal on a cherry PM800, should have it in acouple weeks.
Looked at two 48" and one 72" Mac bars, old solidnose, will need dressed. The guy apologized for the chain, it was half used full chisel 1/2 inch. I don't know when I can get these, but I will and you can't have any :msp_flapper:

If I ever make it out your way I just want a pic of my 797 with the 72" bar buried in 70"s of wood. Around here the only way I could use a bar that big is to clear cut palm trees LOL.

The Chainsaw Guy says the SP105 was Bob McCulloch's idea for a consumer firewood saw. Somebody Downunder said it has more potential than a 125. What say ye? I know I don't have to ask you to shoot straight. Thanks, Ron

No prob if you put into 24" wood. that is soft wood!!!!

It could be considered a replacement for the 795, as it was for the SP125 replacing the 797. Six cubes makes a dandy firewood saw.

I went out an checked it, the rings are in the proper position, looked at them by sliding the piston up to the intake port so the rings were visible. The ring ends are exactly where they are supposed to be. Also, the resistance of turning the flywheel by hand has gone down, I suspect maybe they just needed to be together after being apart for so long...

So, should I prep the gasket area for rtv and put it together? Or is a little resistance at the top gonna be a problem?

That saw is my 650, runs but leaks a little fuel from the tank gasket. I had to rebuild it from the ground up, still not 100% original but looks good setting there.

RE: McScrentch - The one tied to the saw is the stamped version, the one on the shelf is an original forged one, both bear the McCulloch markings.

I have had good success in my travels finding interesting stuff. Somewhere I have a McCulloch File-O-Plate courtesy of Jeff, but there is another style out there with an extra wire bale on it, still need to find one of those.

Cool stuff Mark. I'm going to make 'replicas' of the McScrench out of 9/16" (McCulloch) and 5/8" (Homelite) offset box-end wrenches. Cut the unneeded end off and grind it to a FB screwdriver tip. Another way to go would be to have a 9/16"x5/8" offset box wrench (if one can be found) to turn the bar nuts on both brands of saws, with a 3/4" (or 13/16") offset box wrench with one end cut off and made into a FB tip. That'd be my two-tool 'field' set (OK I'd still have a little FB screwdriver in the pocket for carb adjustments). Time to go dig in the 'old tools' box and tinker....

Nice Randy. Make it happen. Methinks we need to get that 797/660 project going. Does that feller have any 48"+ large frame Homelite bars? The 1130G will need one at some point...opcorn:

An 82cc saw ain't gonna pull a 48" bar, even if you put damn skip on it. Maybe 3/LP with a six pin rim...:msp_laugh:

That's even a lot of bar for a 100cc DD saw to pull when burried. Now an 82cc+gear drive saw is another story. The 72" monster demands a big-inch gear drive.

Practically all I cut is firewood so I should be okay.

Guys, I haven't forgotten my duty to test the SDC 21 on the 125. I need to find a tach and rebuild the 21.

This is a recoil cover I fixed up for my SP81. I polished the center and painted the rest black and then clearcoated it to keep the polished area from corroding.
