HOMELITE SUPER XL AUTOMATIC, IMMACULATE EXCEPTION! | eBay

Is it just me or does this look like a repaint? Is that the correct bar and filter cover?

It looks like it's legit to me. He's put something like Armor-All on the AF cover (no big deal). That's a late '70s or early-'80s production SXL however. It's not a late '80s or early '90s (last of the run) SXL.

I think he's out of his tree as far as the price is concerned too. I'd maybe pay 1/2 what he's asking for it at most. There's an NOS late production SXL-AO at a hardware store about 15-20 minutes from me. Has the plastic oiler plunger, a Zama carb (that saw in the ebay ad should have the Walbro SDC), and 'safety tip' bar.

It's been sitting in that store since it was shipped there from Homelite. The store sells Stihls now, but has that NOS SXL-AO and an NOS Homelite 240 on display with the Stihls. They want $299 for the 240 and $399 for the SXL-AO. Too high in my book. If anybody's interested, PM me for the store's contact info...

that would be James in seattle.

he is doing market research with that saw.

james has sold hundreds of very clean saws over the years

and shops local CL and also searches for deals when he is not doing arbor work.

He also does some restoring-repairs.

If you want it email him an offer.

James is top notch!

James is one of the BEST sellers I have EVER dealt with online! Up-front, honest in his assessments and very professional.

This guy has 127 pages of items on e-Bay, almost all appear to be hardware related. On the several pages I viewed the prices were not outrageous, I wonder if it is a typo?

I have been up to James house several times.. Great guy to deal with.. I doubt if he would ever repaint a saw.. If it was repainted he bought it that way.

Chain Saw-Mall 2 person complete -

Don't know if anyone is interested. What would something like this be worth? I know, depends if it runs......but lets say low and high price. Just curious

This saw has been in the garage for a loooooong time. Was my grandfathers saw when he lived in CA. Saw needs on/off switch and a diaphragm for the carb. The paint is peeling off of the aluminum and it has very little surface rust. I thought I would re-do the saw, make it look nice and put it on the mantle at the cabin and I've been saying that for 20 years. Best cash offer takes it...leave a phone # when you reply to this post or you will not be contacted.. Thanks. chainsaw chain saw Mall Chainsaw Huge chainsaw Mall

I am with you and I will go as far as to say I will never drop $900 on a chainsaw. Especially since I can still get a older used 440/044 for a much cheaper price.

It is insane for sure. IMO anyway.

I am interested in this new filtration setup though. Hopefully it is like the 261. If so, it would be awesome if you could convert it to the older saws.

Shaun is a standup guy, he may be fishin a bit but he ships to Canada, I have bought saws from him over the years and a new ms 440 costs over a grand up here, actually I paid $1123. 35 for my last one with a 20" ES bar and two chains.
