You have the gift my friend. You either call when I'm busy as ####....or when I don't have cell service. Tomorrow is the last day of this assignment for me at work. Will only be able to grab a brief few minutes of AS time during my lunch break...

I was told it wouldn't run unless gas was poured down its throat and it
wouldn't, until doing that for 5 or 6 times then she was a runner, idiling away roughly..Low speed adjustments
didn't make much if any improvement.
Stop/starting it, it was starting on the first pull, bonus.
It will need a Carbie kit as it dies in the cut.

Here's a pic my Mac collection(the other700 and 850 are in parts in boxes)Next to my favourite American import........

I finally got around to pulling the muffler on the PM800, nice and shiny. A good cleaning and we will see about finding a new home for it.

Randy, I ran a couple of tanks through one of mine tonight. You might want to try yours a bit before you just trade it away. Slap an old style muffler on it and you'll have your old PM850 back but with maybe a tad more power. Everytime I run one I think it is a shame I didn't get one 25 years ago. Ron

I am going to build one from scratch, I think I have almost all of the parts, many are nearly NOS, including the motor.

Cliff, I'll send you pics tomorrow, I'm at work, the 'net is very weak. I can't even spy on you with my satellite.

I got some cleaning to do and I need to check with someone else first, I'll let you know by this weekend or sooner if I got Fryday off.

Are you sure the piston itself is actually seized? Could be any number of things.

Chris

I didn't have much time to mess with it, so, yeah. could be anything at this point. It did look there was some oxidation through the plug hole, though.

You might also want to look at the starter. Mine was full of oxidation and when I freed the starter that was all it needed. In the meantime I would put a bit of WD40 in the plug hole.

I have posted this before, but my 1-72 is a really sweet saw, starts and runs well, even has the Town & Country muffler in very good condition.

I only wish it had an automatic oiler for regular use, but I will keep it stock for the collection.

I just spoke with Bob (Farley9N) and the 1-76 should be heading this way soon.

Now I just need to find a 1-75 and I will have the complete 1-70 Series in hand; 1-70, 1-71, 1-72, 1-75, and 1-76.

Town and Country muffler? I recall you implied it's about as effective as a DPST toggle switch turning the same light on, whether it's flipped up or down... eh?

Anyone have a problem with my idea of making a similar 'muffler' as leeha's 101G has on it? Well, you guys might not mind, but my neighbors just might... :D

Yes, your options with that muffler are loud and loud.

Chris

I believe it is Mr Heimann's comment.

Chris

Yep... I was elaborating on the concept by integrating a toggle switch analogy... :D

My .030" over piston should be out tomorrow for shipping, so I'll keep you all tuned in on that.

Thanks again fellow member, you know who you are!!!

Well i had a quick look at my Super 250 tonight, i'm in luck as its got a HL63G carby on it.
So i take it i'll need the RK-88-HL kit for it. Theres no mention of the 63 carb on the RK-88-HL auction listings?.
I've just been searching the net for them, i can get one cheaper from the UK than from the states? strange but true.....

Its missing the rubber grommet from the carb adjustment hole and the bar guide plates, also the mufflers rusted out,it spat the spark arrestor off when i ran it. Has any one got the grommet and muffler they want to part with?.i don't know if the plates off other Macs fit
will have a look and see tomorrow.

It looks tidier in the pics than in real life, the starter sides cracked and pushed in a bit where the kill switch is, probably why it doesn't
work.At least the piston and bore look good.
Can't really complain for a 100 bucks NZ.

Yep. An RK-88HL kit will work just fine in that carb. You can replace that cracked flywheel cover with one from just about any LH start large frame McCulloch. Exceptions would be the 105/125 Macs others with the "super series" engine. The super series has a straight profile along the top edge of the flywheel cover, while the non-super series (which includes your Super 250.........different use of the word "super") has a 'dogleg' profile on the top edge. I replaced the top-switch type cover (like what's on your Super 250) with a side-switch type cover from a McCulloch 200. The switch button on my 650 was broken, and the wire was in sad shape. I actually prefer the side-switch type, as there's no fragile wire. Just a sliding button and a piece of spring steel that contacts the coil when the switch is moved to "off". Simple, sturdy, and reliable. No wire to disconnect/reconnect when removing the cover for maintenance too. The best kill switch design of any I've ever seen on a chainsaw...
