my ms 460 has the hd felt air filter and my 660 came with the hd2,the hd2looks like a k&n design filter,i was wondering if any of you chainsaw gurus out there have had any noticeable gains in power or better filtration with the HD2,my dealer has one i thought about picking it up next week,thanks:msp_smile:

I personally don't care for the HD2. In my experience they plug up with fine dust faster and they're much harder to clean.
The fine dust becomes impacted in the pleats and almost impossible to blow out. I stick with the original HD filter.

I would not pay extra for one unless the cutting tasks produce A LOT of floating fines.

My vote would be "No, not worth the money".

Whats your allternitive?

The old part number is the new HD2 Part number...

So get use to it boys....

List $46

Aftermarket, $19.99+tax.

HD2 was supposedly around $50.00 OTD when I asked.

has anyone tried putting the outer prefilter off the older filters on a hd2 ?

$50 for an air filter???? WOW

Yes it does cost that much. When I went to get one for the 066 I had for the buildoff they gave it to me and then I had sticker shock. They didn't have any of the old version there so it was that or maxflow.:bang:

Wow I can see where the shock came from Mike! I can't believe theres an air filter made for a chainsaw that cost 50 bucks. You would think it would have the K&N name on it. :D

Jesus, with those kind of prices I am glad I'm sticking to the original HD and Bailey's HD filters.

A k&n is about $30 last time I seen one for stihls. It might be what I would get if I buy another one.
