What's the best saw any make or model let's here it doesn't matter what it's for

I'll take a Husky 372xpw with a 24" bar, or a Stihl ms460 with a 28" Stihl light bar. Both ported of course. :msp_thumbup:

I can't seem to be able to pick just one though. :msp_tongue:

Then there's limbing saws....

The one with a sharp chain and a full tank.

There are WAY too many variables to answer this. A guy trimming a few limbs would not want an 090G with a 72" bar, and the guy cutting old growth timber would not do very well with an electric saw from Wal Mart.

Congrats on your 5 points for starting this thread.

You must be bored today. What do you mean it doesn't matter what it is for? You think the same saw will do rose bushes and 15' redwoods? Well how about milling or logging? Do you use the same saw at a professional wood yard that puts out 10 cords of wood a day as you do to cut a couple sticks for the fire on your campout? Clearing a little trail behind the house is not the same as cutting frozen wood north of the arctic circle. If you want serious answers how about a little thought to the question? You seem like a young kid.

Best Stihl Ever

This is a no brainer. The world famous Stihl 028. Reliable as higher taxes and gas prices.Great power to weight, smooth to operate, and looks great in my garage, Ken

I'd have to vote for the 046 Stihl. I was looking for one when I ran across a good deal on my 441. I run my dads pretty often and its not too heavy to carry around all day and still has plenty of power for the big stuff.

Husky 288xp is for me the perfect saw. Has the classic look, great feel, snarly sound, and enough snuff to get it done. Experience based on running a mint stock one. Said saw is in Mastermind's shop getting one of those magic stickers. Can't wait to get it back.

What a silly question. Anyone knows you need a saw for maple, a different saw for walnut a different saw for pine and a different bar and sprocket if it's fir. Now for the 100 varieties of oak, it will take several combinations of saws, bars and full comp and skip chain to meet those needs. That hickory is pretty hard so better put that short bar on the 90cc saw to tear through that. Oh wait, the 90cc is on the mill so use the old mac to deal with the hickory, and so on and so forth. If the bark is a different texture or color, a different color saw is required. So don't ask silly questions Mr. Rabbit.

The biggest and most powerful one you can comfortably operate.

When I'm doing trail work and I've got 8 miles of rugged terrain and it's 90 degrees it wouldn't be an 880!

Most of the time I prefer to run saws between 50 and 70 cc.

YMMV

Best saw, period? 372XP.

372 ex-pee

An AK77 372XP!!!

I really wouldn't want to limb with it all day long but Oh MY WORD you would be able to cut off more limbs than an army platoon could drag away!

There are many that are danged near perfect at what they do including but not limited to;

Stihl 044/440
Dolmar 7900
Poulan 4000
Poulan 3000/PP305
Husqvarna 346
Dolmar 5100/5105
Poulan Wildthing and clones (Yes I said it and I mean it!)
Stihl MS200T
Partner 500/5000/5000+
Husqvarna 51/55
Dolmar/Makita 401
