really could use some solid advice, efco mt 7200 saw starts on 2nd or 3rd pull and runs well until i shut it off for fuel or to move branches. At that point will not start until it sits for a long time, I put a new ignition coil, spark plug and air filter on it yesterday but problem still exists. could the H or L need adjusted.

What fuel are you using ?
Does this also happen when its real cold outside, or just warm days ?

Try 1 can of True Fuel.
If the problem goes away, the vapor lock syndrome is cured.
I believe the Alcohol (ethanol) in the fuel is causing this

on restart i do not choke it if that is what you mean by fast idle, i just place it in the on position an attempt to start, i have a cs 400 echo that just runs all day and i have never replaced a part yet/ frustrating i bought a pro saw and i end up using my small saw for the bulk of the workload.

i only use premium fuel 93 octane and add fuel stabilizer to it/ it happens on warm and cold days/ just went to garage saw started on half pull after sitting for 15 minutes.

IMHO, try one tank of the True Fuel, or whatever canned fuel HD or whatever big box store you frequent has ..............
Ethanol is a *****

i will drain the fuel thats in it and try the true fuel, thank you for advice.

Fast idle is the same as throttle lock on your saw. Your L screw may be open enough, or idle slow enough that once hot, the saw doesn't get enough air to start and floods. Have you checked the spark plug when it won't start? Is it wet with fuel?

yes previous plug was wet and smelled of fuel/ i bought this saw used and someone had attempted to adjust H and L the limiter caps were all chewed up/ I removed the limiter caps / if it won't start now which way should i turn L screw counter or clockwise thx i think we might be on to something..

A screw adjustment wont cause the saw to run well for a tank, then just not start when hot

Well, don't go turning screws if you aren't sure what you are doing. You would turn the L screw clockwise to lean out (less fuel) the idle circuit. This will in turn raise the idle speed. If your plug is wet when the saw does not restart when hot, I would start by turning the L screw clockwise 1/4 turn. See how that does. If it is better - like saw starts but it is difficult. Try turning in another 1/8 turn.

Starting the saw when hot with the throttle lock engaged/fast idle on, is an effective way to test is your L circuit is too rich and flooding the saw. You could also increase your idle speed to try and get a little more air to mix with the fuel.

I trust your air filter is clean?

yes air filter is clean, brand new as of yesterday, it is pitch dark here in ohio, tomorrow i will add true fuel and turn L screw 1/4 turn, i can't thank you folks enough for advice, i spent $125.00 2 days ago on parts thinking it was ignition coil.

Try to Hold the throttle wide open when your starting it hot. There is probably some unburned gas in the cylinder from shutting it off. You need some air in there too.

Friend of mine had a Dolmar 5100 S that did something similar. One tank ran well, shut off the saw to refuel, and no go until cool.
Turns out that saw has a very sensitive carb on it.
I think I found the directions for adjusting it on AS. He hasn't had another issue with it. That might have been 3 years ago or so.

I tried that earlier today when i was sitting in the woods with saw that wouldn't start/ i am starting to think it is the L adjustment from previous post/ my mothers boyfriend said he could tune a saw well(unconfirmed ) i have been struggling since then, but from reading other threads on here i thought maybe my ignition coil was bad and obviously i started with one of the most expensive parts for saw, should have posted this question a few days ago, might have saved $120.00
