I'm going to have my 395XP woods ported, and although I can do my own MM work I'm going to let whoever I choose to do my porting do the MM also. Who did you use to mod your saw and would you go back?

I may also send my 372XP to be done when I get the 395 back but don't want them both gone at the same time. I will most likely send my 346 with the 395 because I had to have it completely rebuilt last month and wiped out all the modding Murph had dome to it. So, I am looking at having 3 saws done total. I don't want to consider Canadians simply because of the shipping but I realize they have some of the best small engine guys around and wish the shipping wasn't such a deal-breaker.

Yep, we really need a sticky with a list of saw builders in good standing with the forum members. Include location, and a list of references with each builer and lock the thread. A moderator can update as necessary. Any builder can opt to not be on the list if they choose.

I think it also depends on time frame.
I know Randy (Mastermind) exclusively does porting, but you sometimes have to wait a few weeks before he is taking new work on, and even then it can be months before your turn comes up. I like that he posts lots of pictures of his work, which gives me confidence in the quality I would expect done. He also does some nice custom muffler mod shrouds (or his son does them), they look a lot better (stealth) than bolt-on exhaust ports.

Brad Snelling (bsnelling) in addition to tree work also does porting, but I have no experience with him. Lots of people give him praise though, he's a site sponsor and has been on the boards for years.

Terry Landrum's (?) name I think I've seen come up. Again, no experience.

There are others too. But I agree that a short advert thread from the modders would be nice.

Edit: great three saw plan! [emoji106][emoji2]

Ive had 35 saws ported now. All done by Mastermind. He is booked up for the rest of the year though. Many good builders on here, some advertise, some don't. Ive just never had a reason or need to try another builder's saws. As Mgoblue said, Scarr builds a mean saw, then you have blsnelling, tree monkey, Tlandrum, also Wiggs, and Mweba. (not listed in any order)
