His story is that it was his dad's saw...translated;he hasn't done jack sh*t to it and it's been sitting around for a very long time. Probably serviced at least two yrs ago and that was minimal, or he'd be bragging about what was done to it. Now there's a new addendum to his auction, probably to address the question I sent through eBay. The better quality saw is gone, but alas, eBay won't let him remove pics he says. Counters back that the saws were in virtually identical condition. No, only an idiot would think so.

No reason given 'why' the saw he already sold had its pictures on this new auction...other than oops. Couldn't possibly be part of a scam, now could it....?

"If you know these saws, you know the saw is worth the money." Well, we haven't even established his reserve yet. "Worth" is a relative term on eBay....he's chummin' with blood for a big shark, that much is apparent.

I'm sorry but a saw of this intended value needs to be inspected personally, or sold by someone you know & trust. You can't just pull a dirty, Holy Grail saw off the shelf like that and expect to get top dollar. There's no effort there on his part.

I paid $750 for my 111S......never done anything other than mill.....came with a real nice mill rig.....but was used a very little amount......I mean very little and never used in a wood pile or the woods. It iis much more in line with the one in the pics you don't get....I hated to pay that much but knew for certain the saw would start and run perfect when purchased......nothing to worry about....not like ebay...!!! Stihl..... this is gonna be a fun one to watch at the end!!

Why such a high reserve for the more used/beat one?......

The saw you bought Robin, was about the sweetest low hr 111S I ever saw. You knew the saw, you knew the source. It was worth every penny and you knew exactly what you were getting.

This is about the polar opposite in deals.... lol

Yep that was true.......the most I ever spent on a chainsaw......and much more than I ever thought I would.....but ...you know.....the heart wants what it wants...LOL!!

Saw is stalled at 16 bids, $770 and ten hrs to go. I expect a last minute flurry and some sniping, of course. All those addendums at the bottom of the auction explaining his pic faux pas will not go well for him. But like Robin says, eBay abounds will fools who have more money than brains.

Like Robin, I'm at a loss what's going on here. First 111S saw he had, sold for $305 in the last six months and now the reserve is over twice that for the more beat of the two??? Revenge....? Lol.....

Which begs the question;how did a decent, whole 111S slip through eBay for $305???? Anyone see that one at the time???

That's a thought...could have come in as a Buy It Now and sold in ten minutes. Talked around on some forums and maybe some folks told him to put in a $800 reserve for the second one and expect to get a grand in late fall.

It stalled ......I think....because you asked the hard questions and he answered in truth......which is good...but you know the bidders were bidding on the pretty one....not the one actually for sale. The last bidder will probably end up with an $830.00 antique with good wear......I think a good case for ebay to resolve if the buyer is unsatisfied.

You're right, the same "accidental" pics of the first sold saw are still in there. This guy is really lazy, crooked or both!

It's his problem he ran short on the first 111S sale. Realizing his error, he's yes, really working eBay. I can't imagine that any astute buyer with the money to buy this saw, would be part of his game. But it IS eBay after all....lol!

I still think he's holding out for about a grand. He'll pull the auction I bet if he does not get near that....we'll see.

Well at least this is interesting to watch....from a distance...checked this clown's feedback.......it seem most all of his transactions are from reselling tickets to mostly sports events....The guy who bought the first 111s for $305 left great feedback!!!!! To bad it wasn't you Dean....that just sucks.....

According to Acres, the 70 was made from '77-'83. The 70E was released in '79. According to his info, both were electronic...I don't know what the differences were. Robin and Eric can weigh in on the slightly confusing info, or Niko can come in and say again what a crock of sh*t Acres has attempted to put online. If it's just the module, maybe there are some aftermarket units available. Those guys can tell ya hopefully. The plastic flywheel fans were problematic is some models as well.
