066 died

was running good ,then died,,,prior to this was hard to start after running.This is all new to me,getting into the guts of this 066.The cylinder doesnt look bad or damaged,,,Im not to sure of buying after market stuff on this stihl I want to keep,any thoughts much appreciated ,,,prior to brake down did a compression ck.Came in at 90psi,good spark.

2 diff style clips from the piston prob means someone messed with it. does the cyl appear to be OEM?
Aftermarket Cyls are not the best. All you can do now is check all the bearings for play install news seals , new piston and pressure- vac test before running.

I'm running a used oem cylinder with a meteor piston on my vintage 064. Oem clips only!

yea i found a piece of it on the side of the case,bearings and play all seem solid,,,,,new to me used saw,but it did run

Otherwise a good used one. What do you have into the saw already at this point?

If the cylinder can be saved you might get back to running with a new meteor piston. Post some more pics of the cyl.

Can't tell much from your pics but doesn't seem like a lot of damage, 40 or50 bucks, back in business.

If your looking at oem you'll more than double what you paid for the saw.

Prefer oem, if they have ears, clip em off.
