glad to hear you got it going. now what's the "next" saw?

Well .....I would like to bump into a Stihl top handle saw that needs saving, put a little 12-14 inch bar on it. I really have to many saws. I need to let one or two of them go, I think I got like 9 of them right now. The only reason I cut wood is to play around with the saws.

Regards

The wife looked in the garage yesterday and counted over 20 saws, not realizing there were 4more outside in the sun. She shook her head and laughed! I got a keeper!

24 saws, this scares me. I'm afraid this might happen to me. I find an old stihl that's not running, resurrect it and make it run like a new saw, then I can't bring myself to sell it.

I hear Huztl has one in the works that you can buy and put together for about 1/4 the price of a new Stihl or less even. You might have to add your own bar but who knows? I imagine they'll run about as good as a new 200T.

I've been using the search button for about an hour now I think this a AV 024, not a AVS 024 super.
This saw only has 1 bar stud, chain tensioner is in the front, but! there is a S stamped on top of the jug, not embossed. But! it's a double stamp over lapping vertically. I got my known 024 right next to it, and cannot visually see or measure a difference. Having been a cop for 26 yrs when things just don't add up correctly, red flags go off.
My saw had just one bar studs and the front tensioner. Here is the S on the cylinder.

Running like a 200T
They use all the replacement parts of a 200T, just like the other cloned saws that Huztl sells. I've never bought one of their kits (yet) but I have bought some of their aftermarket parts and most are identical to the Stihl parts except for the markings. The only drawback is that they aren't worth as much when you sell them..The main bearings seem to be better than Stihl since they don't have the plastic in the middle..

That's the picture I wanted to see. This lends credence to mine being a Super the S is stamped approx. inch forward of the sparkplug. As I mentioned mine is a very light double stamp S and appears to be the same font size has yours. Thanks for the info

Good deal buddy! Yours and mine are early Supers I believe!

I've only been serious about saving these older saws for about 5 yrs, so I really have a lot to learn about the Stihl saws.
Thanks again for the info.

If it is indeed in good shape that price is good. I would always ask if he would take less especially if the condition is less than good. I always pop the muffler cover off and check the piston and cylinder.
