Yesterday morning Unc. and I changed out the covers......from the old beat, cracked, more bare metal than paint one to the stellar NOS Silver one he picked up from his personal supplier of Jonsereds parts......last one he had!!! Funny........we didn't start the saw before we changed covers .... Unc. had never heard it run, so after we were done I stepped outside......set the trigger, pulled the choke and started pulling...........and pulled a bit more.....it started but wouldn't spool up, was skipping and threatening to stall if you didn't try to keep it running. Of course this is the moment of truth with the new owner standing there.......Unc was puzzled.......I was unhappy......I cut two tankfuls with it last time I ran it.....ran perfect.... So back on the bench it went.......I was prepared to tear into it if need be...took the top cover off first.....noticed the ign wire from the points/generator coil just fell off the spade terminal or was already off on the spark coil.....LOL.....put a bit more crimp in the female end and slipped it back on the spark coil......put the new cover back on and went back outside......took right off and ran perfect!!! Unc was delighted and needless to say...so was I......

Very, very nice. Congrats Rob! Well done, Robin!

Bringing back a JonseredS 621.

Went beyond bringing back.

Wrung it out today in dry dead oak.

I wasn't kind. It shrugged it off like it was nothing. Felt torquey and made a lot of fire wood today

Thank You Robin!!!!!!!!

You're very welcome Unc...That saw should stand up to any use/abuse for a very long time....should be getting close to broke in buy now.....the more you use it the better it will be.:chainsaw::cheers:

After running this 621 I may go back to mine and get it running right , only been sitting 4-5 yrs now . LOL I have a pile of old Jonsereds that need to get fixed up or sold off ?

John......if you guys have room bring it along when you come up....we'll fix it and you can take it back with you.....gonna be hard to stump me on/for 621 parts..LOL!!!

Great thread! I have a 621 on the way, along with a few more J'reds...

Scott

Thanks Scott....You'll be very happy with your 621 I believe....it will be the "Outsider" in you wonderful collection of REAL Vintage Jonsereds.....the 621 is generally and rightly considered the "Father" of the modern chainsaw. Way ahead of it's time compared to anything else on the market at it's inception...An excellent addition to the ones you already have acquired!!!!

Thanks, Robin. Looks like I have a 601 coming as well. And I can't wait to get a box of parts in the mail from Sweden; should be everything I need to get my XF going!

That's great!! Lucky to find the parts you need!! I don't have any real old Jonsereds like that. A 601 is the oldest I have.....just none around my area and any found on ebay are priced way beyond my willingness to acquire .... The 601 is a sweet old saw.....for most intents it's a 621 without AV....the one I have cuts nice and runs really smooth....don't really miss not having AV.....nice saw...couple pics of mine.......unrestored.....
