I recently got a junk 365xp parts saw and a huztl 372xp parts kit. I ordered a big bore kit at the same time as the parts kit for around $12. I was very surprised at how good the big bore cylinder looks. I plan to put the bb cylinder on the just saw and the 50mm cylinder on the 365xp with a 268xp piston with a popup turned. I put the huztl crankcase together and fitted the bb cylinder. With the base gasket my squish measured 0.055". I turned the base of the cylinder down 0.035". This put my intake at 77. I set my exhaust at 100 and my transfers at 120. Still have to changed my ports. I also plan to run a x torq carb and filter with a 390xp intake boot on the huztl saw. 20180502_010702.jpeg20180502_010734.jpeg20180502_011202.jpeg20180502_011147.jpeg

I thought I did, but couldn't find it last night when I created the post. It's definitely the best looking aftermarket cylinder I have ever bought.

I did the same as you but didn't cut the base.
No tools lol
Last spring cut a lot with them since.
I built on chinese bottom ends a
oem 50mm with a ft 268 popup
And a 52mm ft with a 272 popup
Both excellent runners.
My favorites i just use them now.
I've bought well over 20 farmer tec
Cylinder kits.
For customer's saw's no real problems
Just some casting cleanup occasionally
Or relieve a port edge.
For the price they can't be beat.
Bailey's still had the oem 372 wraps for 30.00 a few weeks ago

I wanted to cut the cc some but the amount of base cut it took to get my squish right lowered my intake to 77 and I didn't want to go lower than that. I think it's gonna be a good runner though.

77 is still very reasonable for a good work saw. Your work in that jug looks very nice..... Like you have done this before. The upper transfers are pretty dam big were they that big and that shape from the factory? Or did they get raised a bunch?

Man very very nice.

Ive been kicking around ordering a right angle grinder.
And holy hell look at that casting lip inside thr exhaust.

I recently acquired a 034 maybe its good candidate for one of these too ends

I've been porting all of my own saws for several years now. Once you've owned a ported saw it's hard to have anything else. I've had some good and bad luck with them. I think the pictures actually make my work look bad. The camera can definitely see better than I can for sure. I think I had to bring the upper up around 6 or 7 degrees. They were low even before I turned the base.

I put that step in there.

****. What kind of epoxy.

Is there taller piston you can use to turn a pop up instead of lowering the cylinder?

No epoxy, just lowered the floor to create the step. I don't know of a taller 52mm piston, but I plan to use a 268xp piston, which is taller, in the 50mm cylinder I'm doing next.

Isnt 064 52mm same as 268.

Why lower the floor?

Im not sure on pidton mm sizes right now.
Between stihl and husky there should be a piston that ounce turned will work.

Heres my 064 piston going in a 046 cylinder bolted on my 440

Its a .040 pop up bolts together hoping for .025 ish squish with gasket. Havent bolt it together yet to see if the mark was hit.

I don't know if the 064 piston will work in the 372 bb or not. The 268 bore is 50mm not 52mm. The step opens up the exhaust without actually lowering the port at the cylinder wall.

What kind of coating is on that piston?

064 piston doesnt fit on 440 crank. Im a few hours into filling cussing and bleeding into getting it to fit.

Its ceramic a local race care guy did it. I dont think it turned out that great but its on there

Theres lots of 52mm pistons
These are a few.

272 064 046.

272 piston is popular in 046 saws with finger ports due to its ring end location and skirt width.

I chose 064 to be able to run a .04 popup retain timming and have ability to go to a 046 or 272 piston if i decide to change it up.

Is yours an xpw? Thats awesome if it is. Wiseco has a piston to watch for it to loose the coating and sold by normal distributors for much less then 119 price tag it has right now

I knew the 272 would work, but saw a few years back where Randy Evans had tried one in one of his 372 builds and wasn't impressed. My saw isn't an XPW. Just a huztl saw with a huztl big bore cylinder and piston. I'll be less than $280 with the bb kit, 24" b&c, and shipping included when I'm done.

Very nice. They can be built inexspensive. Ill be about that into my 440/046/064 hybrid.
May have a line on a 461 thats in the scrap pile.

I dont know who randy evans is but i do know i wouldnt base the piston on him. Its definatly not a droo in kinda deal. He probly already has figured out what works for him and it wasnt worth investing the time into the 272 piston.

The internet is crazy ive recently found there are guys building saws in my area that build cool stuff youl never see on forumns.

Randy aka mastermind aka moobs ake chicken legs is probably in the top 3 professional builder/porters knowen around here. Very smart guy with a thriving business and a very great guy. If he says something dont discount it hear what he has to say think it through and do what you want. Just kbow he says something for goid reason with many years experience to back it up. That man does several hundred saws per year and is booked many months out.
