Hello all.
My dad was out in the bush in Quebec and found a pile of rubbish that had been dumped from a small-engine shop. In it was an old Homelite Super-XL and this Stihl saw. Can anyone tell what model this would be? Haven’t been able to find any serial numbers or identifying markings yet. Looks similar to an 041 to me, but I’ve never owned one so I’m not sure.

Many thanks!

I would say 041 as well. 031AV saws don't have the spark plug out the back of the saw and do not have the exhaust out to the RH side.
Could be a 050 or 051 but would need to see closer up photos or even case numbers.

Small Town, way down South- New Zealand.
My guess- early 041 AV (recoil badge type) fitted with a later 041 AVQS sprocket cover.
As suggested above, carb numbers, major part numbers and seeing as how the intake side of things is only hanging in place- remove it, or the muffler and use a drinking straw to measure the bore.
Report back with the findings.

Definitely an 041, recoil is 041, black rear handle is 041.
