How's everyone's firewood consumption been? Other than the Christmas blizzard, it's been really mild. These are the kind of fires I'm having, with kindling and one split or 2 smaller ones. I'm at about 2 facecord or 2/3 of a full cord so far since end of October. Usually January and February I'll burn that much per month and here we are halfway through January.

I bought my house as a shell at auction and needed a truck. Found this 1966 Chevy 1 ton at a good price. The ladder rack was amazingly strong and I used it often for the longer stuff. Even carried 2 sets of wooden stairs I had made for me in one trip.
Made the mistake of hauling gravel for my basement. The guy in the giant loader at the quarry was probably giggling as he was filling the truck. The front wheels were barely touching the road and left the road on bumps. :omg: I had the rest delivered by dump truck.

Loaders can be jerks for sure. If they can't guess 2 tons withing 3 or 4 hundred pounds, they shouldn't be in a loader!! I'm lucky here. Got a great loader and he's spot on with the weight and not dumping it all on one side.

Hoooooooo! Its been a long haul and a humbling experience to say the least! Finally starting to feel better. I actually never thought I'd get Covid as I am very active and eat healthy. It actually hit me harder than it did my Squaw. I'm starting to finally feel better though. I was bed ridden for over a week! One night I actually collapsed and hit my head while getting a glass of water. Im only 46. Almost 47. Very humbling! Very humbling! Thankyou everyone fir your concern! I appreciate the friendships I have made on the forum!👍

Cut safe, stay sharp, be aware, and don't get the COVID!!!
Good to hear from you kk. I had the collapse thing going on with COVID as well. I would ask to have your potassium checked. Mine was in the " lethal" range.

Most the loader operators I know would purposely overfill a pickup truck just to make a **** out of the guy that thinks a pickup should be loaded with a 988 cat and not get any stones on their bumper or be overweight. But deference between a dump truck and a pickup.

When the kids were little I always had a suburban . But 4x4 and 3/4 ton to pull a camper . Have to go through my old pictures but you can see the Burban in the street . I miss my Jeep too View attachment 1048836
We have a 92 2wd and a 99 4wd or 4 wheeler or what ever it is safe to call it lol. Selling the 99. Getting myself down to 1 truck.( I also have an 80 GMC with a dump bed. Beast of a wood hauler, but my knee won't take that clutch anymore. Two days driving it and I'm layed up.

I finished stacking that one row of oak more than a few days ago, it’s too soggy out there for me to want to do the rest of it now.

Some of the remaining wood is what I think you guys would call punky, I’m going to sort it out for fire pit wood.

Ya I sure don't expect perfection but facts are facts. I haul stone to places the triax trucks would never go. I make the pit money and I expect them to at least try. Purposely breaking down a man's truck is a dangerous game. Some won't take that sitting down and that same type might pay back 10 fold plus.
Again I'm thankful for a loader who does a great job. He is often within 100 pounds which is just shocking. I'm tickled pink with anywhere from 3500-4500 lbs. He gets dang close to 4 k every time.

Glad your feeling better, stay healthy. Vitamin C, D, Zinc and Quercitin helped me when I had a run in with it. Take it day by day.

Didn't even bother adding wood after the morning start up until well after dinner.
80* in the greenhouse, lol

For me it's been high. I don't burn until first rain and that was early Nov vs late Nov last year. I'll probably burn five cords in my fireplace this season.

Went up to the Cabin in the Catskills on Fri with my daughter's family and their boys Scoutmaster (7 of us in total). Had been pretty warm before we left, but turned much colder, especially up there. Was 12° F this morning and slowly reached 20° late in the day.

12° does not feel bad at all if the wind is calm and you are moving, but if it is dark out, the wind is howling and there is humidity in the air, it feels cold!

The wood stove kept the uninsulated cabin comfortable, but we went through a lot of wood. I transported all of the insulation needed to insulate the second floor (roof and walls) in my trailer, and the project has started. I'll be going up with my friend Harold on Thurs + Fri to continue the project. He has a lot of good ideas that will speed up the process.

Good to see you posting again and glad you're starting to improve. Was worried about ya!

On a positive note, my 338/06 barrel came over the WE while I was away. Hope I can get my gunsmith to install it soon. If not, I may have to wait till after my busy tax season (2/1 - 4/15) to test it out.

Don’t ya love the way snags self limb when they hit the ground? 🤣
Most definitely!
On the other hand, I don't like how they often delimb or loose tops up above if or when brushing other standing timber! 😬 However, if was all repetitious clockwork without the occasional pucker factor? It would be boring and no challenge! 😉 The hazards one will sometimes contend with when on the scrounge!🤔🤣

Cut safe, stay sharp, and be aware! 👍

Honestly I was a bit on the fence when It came to the 338/06. Never really paid much mind to it as factory ammo is not accessible here on the Island. Infact Im not sure any major ammo manufacturers produce factory 338-06. Being as I don't reload yet I've always steered away from wildcat cartridges. However, after reading more and more on the 338-06. It has definitely raised an eyebrow! Seems like an outstanding hunting cartridge suitable for any North American medium to big game. As well as several different African species also! 👍 I'm very curious about the cartridge now Mike!

🤣Always thought they looked pretty rad! I have a blown up 066 I want to turn into a racer some day. ☠️ Only problem is. 🤔 I don't know where to start? 🤷 Never built up a saw before! Im assuming those head pipes are a custom fit, no? I'll probably be hitting up Sierra R fir info on that can of worms! Ha ha!
I'm not up on all the race saw stuff, but I have some ideas...I know they run a lot more exhaust duration, you can get away with that when running a pipe. I'm kinda thinking the same thing...I've got enough work saws in the 70-80cc class, it'd be kinda fun to build a piped BB race saw out of one of my 044s. I'd start pretty basic, but eventually would like to slice the head off and make my own. Maybe even make a reed cage. After that, it'd be cool to make a hotsaw out of a dirtbike motor.

The pipes are kinda specific to the model, also different cone shape/diameter/length effects power. I have a basic understanding of how pipes work, but I don't have the data to just build the perfect pipe without doing a bunch of experimenting.
