Neat idea! I LOVE that Maple. Hard Maple? Air Dried only?I’ve had a few little projects I’ve done so far, but nothing special.
I have a number of slabs that warped too badly to do anything with. I was about to split them for firewood when I got an idea.

The tool it’s on is and Adze it used For bowl making I used oak as I had some about . These are Black walnut ,the Tanto me and my grandson made ,it was his first knifeNice Oak. We dont have that around here, some folks used it all up making dingys about 1k years ago.
Oak is hard and strong, but if you want that even fine fibre hard wood for your knife handles or lathe - its Birch.

How long do you need to dry freshly cut,milled Black Cherry before making something out of it ? I am planning on making a table out of some cherry ? And what do you seal it with to prevent cracking?
How did you dry it without splitting?
