Got a 026 for free with a smoked piston and Cyl. I ordered the $89 kit from Bailey's . 1st question- Have you used one of these? 2nd- when a saw has badly scored the cyl. do you clean or wash out the crankcase?

When trying to conjure him up you need to use caps like this.

"Great and Wonderful".....

Try that and it will work......

Yes, using the enchantment helps, but mentioning after-market cylinders and jugs dose not make him appear in a puff of smoke. Sort of takes public transportation , Lake likes 'Stihl' Parts, from past post. That may be one of the differences of us cheep-skate mortals?

All hail Lakeside , All hail Lakeside!

Actually....that might make him mad......better just send them to him

My error.

Lakeside, O KIND LEADER OF THE UNWASHED MASSES, O GREAT AND FEARLESS LEADER, please come to my most unworthy assistance. I repeated this 7 times while prostrate facing west. Will that do it?

White hats ???

OK - I'll start the ball rolling

He's freely and willingly helped me and many others. He's brought to
the table more good grits than most.

Me thinks his comeback will be a John Wayne
Luv ya work John
No secret hand -shake here.
Just thanks Lakeside53

Keep getting Texas chainsaw massacre......damn :computer: :)

Not sure why Andy keeps comming back here, all he does is answer questions from morons like me. But we thank him:clap:

He will wait until there are another 10 threads of pure worship, then he
will make a post like he is Elvis wearing the pope's hat, sitting in the back
of Sinatra's limo, and all here will will regail, and write epistles to their brothers.

Or if he is in a bad mood, he will watch Andy Griffith and drink some beer.

AS TO THE ORGiNAL QUESTION... No.. I haven't used the Taiwan/chinese 026stuff. I've seen plenty and was not impressed, but.. it's only a 50cc saw so they'll likey work. Plenty of genuine mahle/stihl sets around for $80-110..\

And... go easy on washing out the crank case... I do sometimes.... fill it with mix and flush well.. but it can pack crap between the bearing and seals. If the seals are out, no problem.

Bout time you showed up :givebeer: :givebeer:

Nice old step pulley head. How many of those are you going to restore? Well at least its not a cheap Taiwan copy, that good old USA iron!

Well.... I bought it for parts. BUT.... it's in decent shape where it counts so I'll build this one up also.. So now I need ANOTHER for spares... This is MUCH worse than chainsaw disease.. and much more expensive...

Here's the prior one.. after a lot of work... and that was just cleaning and sorting... the "fun" is next...
