The best 2 stroke oil?

If you Goggle up the 'Amsoil Story' you soon find out they are a custom blender, certainly not an 'oil company'. They buy bulk refined lube oil in bulk (delivered in rail tank cars) and then blend in the custom ingredients that they guard closely and then 'market' their oils just like Amway and Mary Kay does. Same marketing ploy across all 3. I believe 'Golden Spectro' also employs the same marketing strategy.

Redmax and husky oil is $80 per gallon at my dealer he sold me a gallon of saber for $45
1 Gallon of Red Max Synthetic 2 Stroke Oil w/Fuel Stabilizer 50:1 Mix Ratio https://a.co/d/8metMvH

$52 free shipping.

The sad thing is, when I got the case of red armor oil, the red max oil was like $40.00 gallon.

I do know one thing and that is, I have quite a bit of 30 weight non detergent oil on hand as I use it in my screw compressor (Sullaire). I have about 3 full 5 gallon buckets and if the price on 2 stroke oil keeps climbing I may use it for mix.

I have zero need of four gallons of two stroke oil, but I'm still halfway kicking myself for not grabbing that Red Armor deal when I posted it.
It was too good of a deal to pass up. I'll be using it for a few years. Then on to whatever the next good deal is.

Everything is getting stupid expensive but wages are stagnant. Now I hear the Gummit is going to cut my Social Security stipend by 25%. What BS.

Enjoy it. I'm getting charged Soc Sec, but it won't be there by the time I retire. Wish I could opt out and invest that money myself.

I've used Amsoil Saber for years in my saws and 2 stroke equipment.
Mix 50:1, no carbon build up, little smoke, never any oil related failure.
Plus it has fuel stabilizer in it, I mix with ethanol free 90 or 91 octane and it stays fresh for a year no problem.

I couldn't sleep so I was googling around about oil, lol.
I just recently mixed Opti2 at 50:1 with 87 ethanol free gas in a Stihl saw (have only used Stihl Ultra before - doh!). Apparently my dad's saw wouldn't start with my mixed gas (and yes he said he shook the container).
I have never had issues with the Opti2 gas mix for the blower (Shindaiwa EB810RT https://www.shindaiwa-usa.com/Products/newproducts/EB810-RT.aspx), or trimmer (Echo SRM225 https://www.echo-usa.com/trimmers-brushcutters/srm-225)

My dad apparently drained the gas mix and put in some of his 93 octane 10% ethanol (must be like 6+ months old gas) mixed with his Stihl ultra and apparently it started. I have no idea why this would happen, but it got me to buy the RedMax oil Yota linked on Amazon.

I can get 89 octane ethanol free by driving about an hour and 15 mins (one way), but can get 93 octane ethanol free by driving maybe an hour and 40 mins (one way). I am in Northern Virginia and use the pure gas site (https://www.pure-gas.org/VA).

Stihl says to use a minimum of 89 octane in the owner's manual so I feel iffy about using the bare minimum octane.
I think over time (lets say longer than three months) I have read that octane actually drops? I don't know what exactly happens, maybe something just starts to break down and make the gas "less stable?"

Do you guys add fuel stabilizer to your ethanol free gas tanks?
I currently use the concentrated StarTron (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0068ENYTG) AND the red storage Stabil (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000B68V6I) which feels like overkill, but idk. I would rather be safe then sorry.
I did use to use the orange 360 Stabil (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0081ZVB7W) in the past, but figured the red storage is meant for storage so went back to it.

I don't go through even 5 gallons of ethanol free gas in a season, but the bigger issue for me is the long drive. Am I stuck just making the long drive for 93 octane ethanol free every two or three months?

Though ethanol-free gas is ideal, I cannot seem to find any in our area. But I have been using Sta-Bil to treat gas for our ZTR as well as chainsaw fuel for decades, and I have NEVER had a fuel-related problem for up to 6 months of storage between uses.

Yeah I mean I'll do the 3 hour trip for the 93, it's just I don't want to do it every month and a half, lol! Do you use the red storage stabil then?

Yes, that's the one I use. I also use Amsoil Saber for my saw. It says it has a fuel stabilizer in it also, so using Sta-Bil may be overkill. But my mower is not 2-cycle, so it definitely needs the stabilizer. It sits in the garage about 7 -8 months at a time without being run. My UTV gets used more often, but still may sit a month or more.

The price point is not attractive though anywhere from 75-100 per gallon on ebay.
I don't buy anything on Flea Bay and as little as possible on Amazon as well. I buy locally and support local businesses. Last gallon can of Red Armor I bought was 30 bucks at the local Echo dealer Don't use that much and shelf life on unopened cans of Red Armor is 5 years.
