This all reminds me of the fiasco with the neighbors horse. The story goes like this....
Wife calls about 2:00 p and says sonny , the neighbors horse is out. She's scared of them so I told her to just dump some feed in the round pen and shut the gate after he goes in. I'd be home in a little over an hour and would walk him home. Good plan right?????
2:20 pm I get a call that the sheriff's at the house threatening to confiscate " our horse" because a passersby who was a self proclaimed equine expert called in about a poor ,skinny horse locked up in a pen with nothing to eat and no water!
I explained to Mr dogooder with a badge that he was a competitive horse and was overweight if anything an he could verify that with doc Thomas the vet if he wanted. I also of course had to explain that he had got loose from our neighbor and had only been in there 20 minutes and I was to be home shortly to take him back home. I was seeing red!
Those who know the least , flap their traps the most!
They sure do and move out to the countryside from the city. Many of them are dumber than a skid of bricks.

In my quasi-official and official capacities I'm dealing with a Brooklyn influx combined with a Central and South America influx. Brooklyn is trying to replicate Brooklyn in the public transit/sidewalk/bike lane arena while the Americas completely ignore the rules of the road while walking, bicycling or driving. Needless to say ped and bicyclist collisions are way up. Watching motor vehicle traffic while doing ped / bicyclist counts is somewhat like watching a demolition derby.... cars, peds, bicyclists going every which way and not following the rules of the road. It is astounding the collision and fatality rates aren't MUCH higher...

Mini van invasion.

I had a pet bird die from the wife cooking with one of those no-stick pans. We will never cook with one again. Of it can kill a cockatiel I’m sure it’s no good for us….
Kid had me on the slope again this evening, I’m sooo tired
Sad deal. I have heard birds will die from seasoning cast iron indoors as well.

My wife doesn't care to use anything but cast iron, she even has her own.

When I told her I was thinking of buying one of those OXO pans above for eggs, she looked at me like I was crazy, and said, "just use cast iron!"

SR
for me, there are several uses i use my cast for... but, for eggs.. it's sorta like this...

a chevy biscayne car seat and a RR car seat will both get the driver to the grocery store...

but what would be the choice of choice?

of course, just imo... as wouldn't want to get in any pan battles with nobody's chosen...

I’m sure it does, but not worth taking any chances in my book. Stainless or cast iron, that’s it.
i can't say much about a teflon pan killing a pet bird. just don't know all the facts. 🤷‍♂️ but, imo SR is right. not all same. i tried 2 new tv deals... before i found oxo. both prev's eggs stuck! i still use them... low sauce pans! lol....

i baby my oxo's! no high heat for one thing....

My dad bought a bran-new Biscayne in 1958, I bet a lot of the guys here, would love to have that car now!

Have you ever tried electrolysis for cleaning up cast iron? It's gentle.... Arm & Hammer washing soda (laundry soap), water and electricity. I've cleaned up a lot of tools and machine parts using it... I'd think it would work well with cast iron cookware to get rid of corrosion and thick crud. Low physical effort and it's self limiting. It also doesn't remove any good iron the way abrasives do. If there is a lot of rust running it through a few times with a steel wool scrubbing or a steel brushing to remove the lose heavy stuff in between will get rid of the corrosion. Caution... if you have cast iron from a stove that has been nickeled or chromed it will remove that too as it attacks the corrosion under it!
I have not used electrolysis but that is the other "proper" way to strip iron (I use lye bath for crud and vinegar bath to neutralize rust). Electrolysis is actually the preferred way as it takes everything off in one step rather than two but i believe the fumes can be caustic and I do all of this in my kitchen.
About to go in the smoker then hit the BBQ. What do you think it is?

Anybody have any ideas on the vintage or brand this pan is? I do know that it was made before 1967, because it has no country of origin marking.
Yes BSR Red Mountain Series. It was the only red mountain I had (besides it's near twin that was in slightly less good shape) so I figured I would pass it on.
Is that Corgiville where you live? 🤣 Cute dogs.
Yes they are sweet, loving, but head strong little ladies.
