Which oil/gascaps are better? Explain why you think they are good. I like the husqvarna best why? no tools needed to screw them on they don't leak and you can overfill them and get the caps on no problem.

New style Stihl caps tend to be kinda flimsy to me..

Old Style Stihl, not so great when you have oily hands and a scrench isnt at arms reach..

Husqvarna, assuming you are talking about the recessed style caps that you can only get at with 2 fingers...great, until you get one stuck, at which point you have to get pliers.

I prefer the big ol Poulan caps...no matter how tight they may be..no matter how oily your hands, its nearly impossible not to get a grip on em!

At first I hated the new style stihl caps as I kept loosing them.:angry2:

Then once I realized that you have to ALWAYS check them when you put them on by giving them a pull before flipping the lever back down, I LOVE THEM.

I haven't had one come off in more than 2 years.

I've stayed out of the caps debate until now as I'm a recent Stihl convert, but I do like the new ones a lot.

I've never had a problem with any of my caps coming off or leaking, but will agree that you can't overfill the tanks as you have to leave head room for the part of the cap that threads into the tank. Sometimes I wipe them down when adding mix and bar oil, sometime I don't. It just depends...

I like the new Stihl caps even though I did 'miss' one time and oiled my leg & boot!
I've never had one leak once it was seated!

They work well. No tools, usable with gloves/mittens, snug down when clicked shut correctly (ole dogs learning) .

I really liked the caps on my old John Deere (Echo). There was a nice serrated edge on them, easy to take off, even wearing gloves. The tank threads were external and stuck up on the saw, you had to try pretty hard to get debris in the tanks.

I like the husky caps just fine. As far as needing pliers I usually have a pair handy (Iowa farm boy) so that is a non issue. You can use your scrench on at least the ones on the 372xp's. Hand tighten and loosen however you need to. You really don't need them very tight - just tight enough to keep from vibrating loose as it is annular seal as opposed to a face seal.

I don't know that I have anything against either of the Stihl caps but I don't run them very often.

no problems

I like the new style stihl caps, they're just quicker, and they lock in place. But I've never had a problem with any make's gas/oil caps, if I did it was my fault.:chainsaw: :greenchainsaw:

why not a high compession oil cap that I have heard about around here, it is probably something new we need to find more about. mine has the type that takes a screwdriver to get loose. also who puts these things in? I only used about 5 tanks of fuel and tried to check the oil and this darn cap would not come out. good thing I found it though, because it was out of oil. just in time I guess, after this I am going to check it every 3 or 4 tanks of gas.

Just walk away...

I really hope this is a joke!

When you are out of gas, you should be just about out of oil!

High compression oil cap???????

The results are very interesting so far people seem to like the new Stihl caps.

:newbie: I guess if ya cut your teeth on them you would not know the difference. Of course if you are biased it don't matter how
stupid an idea is. I don't like them or the all in one choke bs switch
and that is why I am husky. If they would have left these gadgets
off their pro saws I would still be buying them. I guess they are
more suited to home owners

If you drove a Yugo for 100,000 miles with no problems, would you still like it?

Cars and fuel/oil caps, my my. Where, or may I say, what in the heck does a yugo have to do with a saw?

You boys are missing the point, sure the old Stihl caps are good but so far user error has been the cause of broken flip caps. Take a split second and line up the tabs, not rocket science.:dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy:
