I thought I might start a new thread to show the finished saw. Some that might like to see this might never find it at the end of a 30 page thread, where the build doesn't start until half way through it. This is the first of three 084s I'm doing. This one was taken down to bare case halves and reassembled with a new OEM P&C. Everything was cleaned and is in proper working order. The weakest link on this saw is the bar/clutch cover that was cracked and repaired. The crack was drill in order to stop it, and then repaired with JB Weld. It's in a non-structural area, so should be of no concern. If you've got questions about anything I've done here, feel free to ask. We're all here to learn. I know I've learned a lot about 084s in the last 2-3 weeks!

The Stihl name plate will be replaced with a proper riveted on metal one.

There's a little chip yet that I need to dress off on the rear handle.

Nice job Brad! Im curious as to what compression readings youll be seeing on your rebuilt saw, now and after break-in. I want to compare mine to a new one. Thanks.

Brad, is that bar 3/8 or 404? what is the DL count if it is 3/8?

I have that bar for mine that was a small 066 mount that they milled out to fitr the 084. It was 404, but They swapped the tip to 3/8.

I have not idea how many DL I need, lol. Sad part is the bar is in good shape.

It's a .404 bar, 41". 123DL, PN 3002 000 9757. I've also got a 47" Duromatic and a 21" Oregon. I dressed and closed the rails on them today. All they need is a coat of paint.
