Went over to my Son's to take him my Shinny to use for a while. Went down to look at the cattle. I was standing in front of my truck, turned around to get in, and there stood a 2000 lb Black Bear. Well' it looked that big anyway. my old 60 year old butt was motoring to the other side of the truck to get in it. Ruined a perfectly good pair of drawers. S^&t he scared it out of me. I'm to old for this crap.

I worked at a Boy Scout camp that had several black bears roaming around. The directer always told me "They are more afraid of you than you are of them". I told him I did not hear the bear screaming while he ran away!

Soiling the shorts may slow him down when he slips in it.

Whats that old joke. If your gun jams and the bear is charging you just throw some s-cht in the bears face, where ya gonna get it, no fear it will be right behind ya. Bobby sounds like you was fully loaded to take on that bear,LOLOL

About 2 months ago i was coming home from a fire really late one night. Pulled onto my road and went about half a mile well next thing i know a Deer runs right out infront of me nothing i could do but hold on and take the hit. Well it killed the deer didn't do very much damage to my truck as i was only going 45mph (speed limit) so i figured might as well not waist perfectly good meat so i threw it in the back of my truck and carried it home. Went into the field behind my house with a Propane colman lanttern and started to clean it. I got the bad stuff out and just about to start skinning it when i heard what sound like a huge vehical coming towards me i look up and shine the light and it was a black bear. So I shout and yell at it and make lots of noises and scare it off. It didn't take me long to decide to finish cleaning it up by the house.

He told me to go up a road and have a look around, he went anothe way, I came around a corner about 30' from a bear. First time ever I ve seen one close. I just walked backwards until he was out of sight, then turned around and walked away.

Walked out of my house at 3am to start the truck to leave for Emporia for the week a couple months ago and looked across the street at the rodeo pens that are lighted most the time. Saw a mountain lion slinking across the drainage ditch towards the creek and trees west of my house. I fired that truck up and ran back to the house. When I came back to load my luggage and tools I had my pistol with me. I called Fish and Game the next day and got the same old routine that there isnt any mountain lions-cougars-etc. in Kansas. Thats the biggest line of :censored: I ever heard.

I was up in Michigan riding my dirt bike last summer, I was on a single track trail and stopped to check for traffic when I came to a two track I had to cross. Stopped looked left then looked right and not 50 feet from me stood a black bear and two cubs.

We stared at each other for a few minutes and she took off - I don't know who was startled the most, me or the bear LOL. I've been going up there riding for a week or two every summer for 20+ years and that's the first bear I've seen in the wild.

We had a couple of bears in my area a couple years ago, they were getting into garbage so the DNR trapped them and moved them to a different location. Pretty neat seeing those critters!

Were you in the UP? I didn't think the lower part of MI was wild enough anymore to have bears. I could be wrong.
