Hey Trip

I'll sign up I always wanted to do some side by side comparisons. I am at 9 hp. now hoping to up it to 12 hp. so I can put in the 22 gpm pump just acquired.

Jerry

Dont this sound like fun, Like a old steam engine club, No money, maybe a $10 dollor plaque/trophy, could get sponsers , Ive been involved in competion sports all my life, sure your going to have the radical competitors, so make a class for them and keep it fair, I really could get excited about it, Hell even the old catipillar collectors get together and have a show down,. I think splitting wood could be a SPORT, If you will,... T,C, E,J,

General rules

Tell me what you guy's think of these. General Rules for Hydralic Timed Wood splitter RACING. Rule 1)No seasoned wood 2) No flywheel or mechanical splitting 3) Material to be processed will be based on the 3-16's policy consisting of 16 peices of wood, 16'' in diameter, and 16'' long. Each piece must be split into 4 semi equal peices. 4) No wood can be touching the splitter or any of it's attachments including the operator at the start of the event. 5)Any means of loading material onto splitters not by hand is not permitted, lift's are ok, but must be hand loaded. 6) Absolutely No Auto cycling Switches, lever's or eletronics. Spring and or pressure detent's are allowed, but again no auto cycling by any means. 7) Only one contestant per splitter(operator) ------------I have class breakdown's if everybody like this so far.

C Metal,.. Is that a home made elevator or a converted hay unit,..The double chain has me guessing,..T,C, E,J,.

Nope made it myself from scratch. the chain came from a silage, grain elevator. It was a total pain the Azz, but works well. Hay units typicaly only have the one center chain.. Some of the paddles were welded on the chain prior to me. the deal was I convert this p.o.s. elevator to a feed bunk and I could have any parts I wanted. I got screwed on the deal but I got the chain and one shaft.

The auto cycle part is a point of discussion,..This is a FUN thing we are planning not a you cant use your splitter because it came with a auto cycle valve,..As far as the unlimited class,.....UNLIMITED MEANS UNLIMITED When you start telling people they have to follow strict guide lines to enter you arent going to get as many entrees, in fact it may never even get off the ground, SO, we start out with 2 classes up to 10 hp,...and then the un limited, and see if we can get enough people to make it worth having, then when we get going , you start splitting up the classes, as far as a one man/woman opperated splitter of course, to my knowledge this has never been done, I think its its best to just wing it and see If people are intrested in doing it before we start getting 2 tecknical,..Ps cant spelllll, T,C, E,J,

Simple is better. The only reason I mentioned auto cycler is the fact that everyone I know who lost there fingers to one has some sort of auto cycler, by either eletric or mech means. Safety is always our number one concern. We don't need every T D H rigging one up ( auto cycler) to be competitive. I agree unlimited is unlimited. Run what ya brung. These were only general rules applied to all classes. We can go all out from the beginning Nitro injected 10hp, but it really doesn't sound safe At all. Simple 10.99 and under no modded motor's and unlimited. thank's for the comment. chris

Should be an efficiency class to keep it realistic. longest run time with the largest amount of wood split on one gallon of gas or something to that effect. Keeping in mind that this would be an event where everyone could be running all ot one time.

If every body had a class taylored to there splitter there would be 40 classes,..so overwelming it wood never get of the ground, 2 classes is enough for starters,. If we get this club up and going there will be HUNDREDS of ideas for the next year,.. T,C, E,J,.

Plan on being in the unlimited class,,,, what are you running ? about a 100hp diesel,......

Yeah close, the Case Super M are turbocharged diesels rated at 90-95 (net/gross) hp. The pump adjusts varible flow 0 - 36 gpm @ 3050 psi to the auxilary, the primary has 38 gpm. It also weighs around 18,000 lbs. Are you going to have weight class restrictions also? :)
