(I hope this will let me post some pics. I'm a new poster, so maybe not.)
I used this model (MS-391) for years when I worked in maintenance at a local college. I grew to love it. I just bought a new one for myself. I had to travel out of town to get this model because my local dealer had it on...
Hi,
I had bought an electric sharpener at first and then realised that I needed to change the disk as it was too small for my chains (I didn't know about chain characteristics at first), so I stopped using it and just got a some files and holders to do them by hand which I have some success...
Hi,
My current bar and chain are knackered so I am getting a new set. It was a second hand machine with an Oregon 18" bar and .325 chain on it.
The standard route would be a Stihl rollomatic 18" 74DL with a Stihl .325 RS chain. This is factory settings so to speak.
I run a small property...
I have a 42” Oregon powermatch 3/8x.063 bar with a woodlandpro 42” .375x.063 ripping chain. Would that combination work? I ran it on a stihl 066 and it seemed to cut ok until I hit a hidden nail in the bark. Just want to make sure that’s the right chain for that bar so I don’t prematurely wear...
I have a 25" large mount (3002) bar and chain in like new condition. I purchased this thinking it would fit my MS660 and apparently I was wrong... I do have an 880 that I could put it on but I already have a 47" and 30" bar for the 880 and don't really need another smaller bar for this saw. The...
Long time reader, and student of the arborist site, and normally find my answers already posted, but I searched for this one and couldn't find a clue, so here goes.
I have a 261 with the standard sprocket and a 20" green bar. standard 325 chain. I need to replace a couple chains that are a few...
Hi everyone, have a bar with no markings relating to how many links
should be in the chain.
It is a 38cm bar .43 gauge, and is supposed to be off a Makita EA4300.
Does anyone know the link count for this outfit, in 3/8 LoPro pitch.
Thanks

Hello-
I'm very new to working on chainsaws, and just use it for home use. Chopping down trees, bucking them up, etc. My dad gave me this saw rebuilt for christmas a couple years ago and it's time for a new chain...
Hello,
Stihl MS291 has me baffled. This is the chain: STIHL 3689 005 0081 Oilomatic 26 RM3 81. I have sharpened countless chainsaws in my life using nothing but a file and I have never had a problem until I purchased this saw. I am doing everything right. I am holding a 3/16 file at a 30 degree...
I have a JD CS56 that runs like a dream, is strong and very reliable, despite my novice knowledge of maintenance and lack of upkeep...
Only thing ive done in the three seasons ive owned it is put a primer bulb on it and keep oil/fuel in it.
Cranks on first pull and runs like a top every time...
I've been searching for info but coming up pretty dry so far, so I figured I'd ask. I just got an Echo CS 490 off eBay on a whim. I have a 372XT for bigger stuff and wanted a saw I could tinker with and use for odds and ends stuff.
It comes with a 20" bar which is bigger than what I'm wanting...
Just got my Huztl order and I found an interesting surprise. The chain that came with the 36" 070 bar is a stihl, 404, chisel bit, full comp chain. It came in a stihl chain box, the chain is stamped stihl and the drivers have the grooves to carry the oil.
The grind on the chain looks excellent...
FREE!!!! Echo CS-6700 parts saw. Things I know are wrong with it are bad piston, but cylinder is still ok. Also not getting spark. See pictures for detail, or ask questions, I'll try my best to answer. JUST pay to be shipped from 30205.
Hi all at AS,
Was going through some joiners (Oregon) today, they seem to be for 3/8 but they were too big to fit my stihl chain.
They are not .404.
I may have read a while back that some Oregon joiners only fit Oregon chain,is this correct?
I think these maybe fairly old joiners, not the latest...
Hi! We have a very tight chain around a tree (from a hammock). The bark still looks intact though (lot of pressure on it but not cut). We are worried about the chain whipping back at us if we cut it (it is under extreme tension). Any suggested strategies for removing it? Thank you.
Hi i just joined this great site, allready learned a fair bit from it over the past couple days. Not sure if im posting in the right catigory so let me know. I just got a couple old school saws off craigslist 80$. From what i can gather thier both great reliable saws and im excide to get...

What are the better chain sharpeners choices?
I don't sharpen enough to perfect my skills, so I want something that I can slap on my chain, no fussing around making tedious adjustments, sharpen quickly, and get to work sawing.
I tried hand sharpening, but I'm not getting those nice big...
