Trying to get my 026 running, just got a new after market P+C kit through the post. Put it on this afternoon, everyting seemed fine untill I tried to turn it over. Was just gently turning it with the flywheel as I wanted to check that the new parts where good to go and got to the top (or near top) of the stroke and the piston seems to lock up on the roof of the cylinder, WTF?! Anyone else seen this??

Cheers,
Paul.

I would have to assume that you have a defective piston or cylinder then. You can try turning it over with a thin piece of solft solder stuck in through the spark plug hole to see exactly where the tight spot is. You can get an OEM P&C kit from bcorradi here for $85.

I had a similar prob. with a p/c kit from Baileys for my 026. I ended up using the original gasket plus making two gaskets out of a chainsaw chain box to get the squish right.

I had a similar problem with a Golf Piston that a customer had brought me,
but it was hitting on the bottom side, had to pull it apart several times until
I figured it out.

Had to do a little re-engineering...........
