Basket case 028Super. Bought a clutch cover & it looks like it interferes with the chain tensioner. Looks to me like there should be a cutout in the clutch cover for the tensioner. Am I correct in this?

Another hint... clutch cover says made in West Germany, but saw serial number shows it was made in Virginia Beach. So I’m guessing there was a change made at some point that affected the cover and/or tensioner. That sound right? Or am I missing something else?

Thank you,

—JC

Hmmm the ipl i looked at for 028 does not show an outer bar plate... but most on ebay have an outer plate...maybe somebody put a different tensioner nut on there, seems like most stihl ones i remember are more rounded , not pointed. Maybe this ones just stickin out too far. None of the covers i saw on ebay had any clearancing for the tensioner

The 1119 number...

Did a bit of google-type research. Looks like there were at least two versions. The older "type 1" is the 1118 part number, and the newer, "type 2" is the 1119 648 0403 part number, and allegedly was used on the later 028's, 038's, and 024's. Not sure if that's all 038's and 024's or just some. Mainly putting this here for posterity in case someone is searching for it later.
