029 Crank Bearing

I need a little help-

The IPL for a 029/290 list the crank bearing as 6203. Am I correct in assuming this is not a propietary Stihl bearing, but an off-the-shelf item at a bearing house?

yes a normal 6203 bearing will work but may not have the plastic insert that holds the balls but a metal one. I have used non stihl bearings and it seems to be fine. Just make sure you buy a 6203 C3 bearing as the c3 is the clearance it needs for high tempratures etc .

2, but unless you are shipping something to me today, don't worry as I have a bearing house about 3 blocks away.

I buy mine at my local Napa. They are pretty cheap. You might have to pull the plastic inserts out.
