No, I only dismember newer ms290/390 saws.

Mine's an MS 290 6 yrs. old, newer 290 engine will still pop right on no?

Sure, only real difference with the older 029s is the shape of the rear handle/air filter cover.

i kinda remember the 029 piston is slightly smaller 1mm i think.

Kudos to Fish! I have an old 026 that would not stay running. I just fired the saw up after performing the carb cleaning instructions that were posted in such detail.

Now the saw runs just great!
