044 starting kickback coil flywheel

Yeah the jug is way clean for a 30 year old saw.
Just tried to swap starter housing between 2 044’s, no dice as the bolt holes are different sizes between the 10 and 12mm
I’ll have to wait to grab a starter handle next town run

Heck, a piece of 3/4 inch alkathene or a section of wooden dowel (broom handle) with a hole in for the rope and a knot to stop the rope pulling through will get you going- or swap the rope from the good starter to the bad one- the ropes will interchange and no worries about bolt holes lining up.
 
Tied a piece of dowel on, gave it 3 yanks and pop, lol just read the above. Flicked it up to fast idle (damn no fast idle) but with the dowl you can pull through it fine. The control switch has fast idle snapped off so I have ordered one.
Flywheel is torqued down, air gap to specs. Hopefully the kick back is gone.
I’ll use a cable tie later and replicate a fast idle start and see how it goes
