Is a crank case on a 64 the same as a early 66 Amish saw shop pulled the 66 down for seals but is telling me that they are going in tight but is leaking air around the case side.

If I'm not mistaken I think the newer 660/066 have a bigger case . older 066/064 have a smaller case . but I could be wrong on many levels
 
Here's the easiest way to tell on the cases ....

Look at the holes for the screws that hold down the cylinder.

If an M5 fits, it's an 064/early 066.

If an M6 fits, it's a later 066/660.
 
064 and early 066 had steel insert for the bearing which often spin loose in the case causing a hard to find air leak. No easy fix, machine shop could pin it if caught early but cost would equal replacement. Com0n on hard used 064s. These cases are almost a 1/2" shorter in the front oil tank area, beware when replacing case gasket o66/660 gasket won't work. Ken
