I currently have an ms260 and and an ms210. I am looking for a bigger saw for firewood only. I am looking at an 064 that really hasnt been used or an ms460 in the same condition both used. I want to run somewhere around 28 to 32 inch bar. Any input on power to weight ratio. They are both going to be around 600 dollars. Are 064 parts still readily available? Any other recomendations (Stihl) I like that the 064 is a little lighter than the ms660.

Thanks
Rick

have you looked at the ms441?

I would look at the Ms 441. great saw with more than enough power for what your using it for. i would not put the 32'' on it but would consider the
28''. it will also save you 70$ bucks.

Yes I looked at it but it being a newer model saw it cost about the same as the ms460s used. Same with the ms650. I may just wind up putting a 25inch on my older 041av. I really wanted a newer bigger saw though, just hard to part with that kind of money.

if you've got the $$$ buy both!

otherwise I'd go for the 064 in great condition first. mint 064 are much harder to find than another 460/046. since most folks don't know about how super cooool 064 are, prices are much lower than a 066/660.

both saws are dead reliable. 064 weights barely more than 460 with loads more grunt. 460 carries less fuel/oil and will be handier to use.

got both and use them about 50/50. if you only get one large saw, 026 will really balance things out.

064/046/026 is an outstanding three saw combo... add MS200T if you climb.
lately 026 has not seen much use... mostly because it's not running the 3/8 .050 square chain that I've standardized on.

Wish I had the $$!!!! I am going to sell an 041av and an ms290 to finance the 064. So I doubt I will ever get the ms460. I figured I could always downsize the 064 bar and it would be like a badass ms460. Thanks for the input thats what I was looking for. :greenchainsaw:

I think the 441 gets a bad rap here from guys who never ran one when we
cut we have a660 a 460 2 441s a 880 for bigger stuff and i can tell you the
2 441s are always used .they are very smooth to run.and i have run a 32''
bar on mine with a full skip chisel and it has plenty of power in red oak.
and puts out almost no fumes.

I bought an ms460 off Ebay and just hoping all is well. I tried to avoid the guys who were selling rebuilds. I think I got a newer saw but dont have it in hand yet so we will see. Pics looked good. Anything I need to check over you guys can think of off hand before cutting with it.
